you know, watching this is felt like that one reddit post about "what a certain fandom hate the most that you simply don't understand why they're being hated" and this video simply what it is.

like seriously, i've yet to see anyone actually using most of the unity feature to make game, and all i see in the comment is a bunch of angry people who doesn't even make game and even if they do then its probably the n-th version of top down RPG that can be easily make on an RPG maker. i personally will not even use anything rendering related or even anything related to HDRP so i literally have no reason to be mad and yet these mfs who has yet to make and release a game in their life is mad about a feature that they probably never used or even remember because they choose to do asset flip instead.

Whoever still uses Unity… my honest condolences. No bad words. People still seem to love it. I can't share this experience after two Unity projects with 40+ people on each project.

If their management is completely separate from the main branch, it doesn't surprise me they are doing more powerful improvements given the direction the board has been steering Unity towards since the company went public. It doesn't even take a business genius to see the engine could use these features more than live service support. It feels like the quality and competitivity of the engine became secondary. And now they are even charging $250 per seat for Odin, which is an asset that mainly just makes the workflow of the engine better, but is just not worth it on top of Pro and every other cost you need to deal with to make the engine good enough to be competitive. They shoot themselves on the foot.

Wow, what a great opportunity to blame Unity for all the evil in the world again. Who cares that the Chinese don't give a shit about the copyright laws or that Unity China is basically a sperate company. Surely Unity must hate its western users, that's why they're withholding features from us. I don't think you people should be thinking about video game engines, when you can't even comprehend such simple concepts. You'd be way over your head

Why would they not take advantage of the work done in Unity China?
Tbh I don't even care about the specific features, even though they are awesome and what we need. I care that Unity is moving so slow, when Unity China demonstrate they have the ability to do good things.

Knowing China, it wouldn't surprise me if, instead of having developed their own system, they didn't just tip Unreal Engine's systems by looking at their source code.

Good to see our investment in HoYo's games brings developments to an otherwise dying engine.
From what I have read, Genshin will get a graphics upgrade in the next update (higher settings or something like that). My 3080 wants to melt rendering all the gorgeous locations in the game, but the mobile-friendly approach keeps it back so far.

Unity devs can finally jump to an engine that's just like Unity with nice features..... I wonder what else is in the Taunjie engine roadmap, perhaps Unity users should also all group up and chip in to buy the source code so they can implement all the features and fix the wont fix bugs aswel.

Just a small FYI for Unity newer enthusiasts, We already have Nano Tech ( = Nanite but also runs on DX11 apparently, and is 90% done as of writing this comment) and Aruna ( = Lumen/SDFGI which is WIP) as well as Erebus ( = Ray-taced shadow system). Search on Google for more info. None of them are free and only Erebus is not in beta or alpha phases, also there is Dynamic Culling which together with Amplify Impostors, World Streamer, GPU Instancer, and The Vegetation Engine would make Unity handle huge scenes - even in BuiltIn RP. Still, I hoped they were free to use and also I wished Unity would have a photogrammetry databank just like Unreal.

Hmm... why wouldn't Unity want to bring these advanced features back to the rest of the world? Only reason I can think of is copyright. How "clean" is the nanite-like Unity? Is there any possibility that code from Unreal made its way across? (And before anyone points out, clean room reverse engineering is obviously fine, but if you can't establish that legal difference, you open yourself to a potentially ruinous copyright claim even if it's a different language)
