So if America 🇺🇸 didn’t have air defense, they would’ve lost the war

Reminds me of a cross between an A-10 and a Skyraider.

Did the YA-9 ever become a production aircraft?

At the time the decision was made, the A-10's engine was farther along in development. The peculiar mounting made for less direct paths for ground fire to the engines. There were some problems early in production with the cannon smoke affecting turbine blades. The Projection Unit (PU, aka HUD) went through two combiner upgrades to improve pilot viewing angles. Also built into the PU was a rudimentary target aiming system for use in case of a failure of the main electrical power, another bit of redundancy built into the design. The wheels do not retract into the wing fully, to allow landing in case the landing gear cannot be extended. I tested and aligned scores of PUs where they were manufactured in San Jose.

There is no such thing as an aircraft that is impossible to take down, just like there is no such thing as an unsinkable ship.

If the A10 didn't go through Fairchild would cease to exist....so they ponied up the bribe money the politicians would require.

I'm annoyed that the US didn't use those to help defend Ukraine against Russia, yet they used those same assets, and countless others, to defend Kuwait. And that's all despite the fact the UK and US each signed a legally-binding defence pact with Ukraine, but not Kuwait.

the reason the a10 was chosen was because of the fighter mafia bullshit. and bailing out a failing company. not because its a useful aircraft in any reguard.

Watching videos like this always makes me wonder... how long until "our" government turns these weapons against American citizens? Don't get me wrong, I ALMOST trust Washington DC.

A-9 = susceptible tp ground fire on engines, etc
A-10 = moved engines and other electronics up to minimize ground fire damage..

"IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE DOWN" WHY does one post such ABSURDLY HYPERBOLIC TITLES ???

Is this a deliberate rehash of the 'Unsinkable Titanic'?
Sorry, but such absurd, clickbait titles earn a THUMBS DOWN.

The Russian FrogFoot was absolutely influenced by the YA-9... The FrogFoot is a design that works and has a couple of irrelevant advantages over the A-10.
