Is there a good technique for carrying the yarn up the side? For longer stripes.
ОтветитьI so appreciate you showing these instructions in continental style. I never knew there was another style growing up! As a new again knitter it helps a lot.
Ответитьlove those classy scissors! back again for the 3rd time, love your teaching style and demeanor ... no being cutesy or calling attention to yourself, you are a pro thanx so much, easier to refer back to this rather than my memory. So if I tend to have a loose st on the left side of the piece (last st) which slip format would I use in st st and which in garter? Currently combating this in garter st by sl first st pw with yarn in front and purl every last st yes makes chain but do not match... just wondering if there is a more refined way Blessings!
Ответитьexcellent video and very clear !
ОтветитьJo dikha rahe ho uske uper aap demonstrations likh rahe ho
Better you show your knitting instructions along with
BEST advice and tutorial ever! Such important info! ~once again thank you! TYTYTY
ОтветитьAlways so we’ll explained with details. You think of everything we might encounter as we make progress with time and already explain the bigger picture in details! And also including the science behind what is happening and what is causing what, or doing something will cause this or that…. 🥰💞🥰💞🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ответить@nimbleneedles where did you get those gorgeous scissors?
ОтветитьThank you so much for videos like this, Norman! You're so thorough and your examples are very clear and visible. I appreciate your dedication to the craft! Learning from you has made me a better knitter, so thank you again!!!
ОтветитьWhat is best edging for conection of squares!!Thanks before hand
ОтветитьAmazing video. You have made me a better knitter. Thank you so very much.
ОтветитьThank you again for coming to my rescue, where others have failed. After watching about a dozen videos on knitting straight and tidy edges, and trying out more than half of them, my edges were still wavy and twisty, plus I was getting more confused and frustrated 😖 After watching this video three times, I finally got a straight and pretty edge on the first try. You also helped me with saving dropped stitches. Before that, I was unravelling rows of work, just to pick up my dropped stitches 🤦🏻♀️You're a godsend to nervous newbie knitters like me.
ОтветитьI am trying to finish a project with a chain stitch and then it asked me to pick up stitches for an edge. How do I pick up more stitches than loops??
ОтветитьPerfectly explained. Which selvedge stitch do yoy recommend for raglan increases? I found that instruction in a pattern. Thank you in advance!
ОтветитьWow! Excellent teacher. Blessed are your hands🖐🏼
ОтветитьNorman, thanks for your videos. I'm a beginner-plus knitter an I'm learning so much! I'm doing a top-down sweater that will have 4-sticth icord bindoffs on hem, sleeves, and collar. Because it's a v-neck, it starts flat with the selvedges forming the V before being joined and continued in the round (see attachment). Here's my question: if I did a 3-stitch icord selvedge on the V, does this steal 6 stitches from my count? Do I cast on an extra 6? (Oops, I don't know how to attach a picture.)
ОтветитьHow do you keep your edges nice when changing yarn colors? I know you are supposed to carry your yarns up the side, but I noticed that if I have to carry more than one color (like a three yarn striped pattern), my edge looks bulky. Any tips on how to carry multiple colors of yarn up the side of work?
ОтветитьThank you for all the choices. I’m currently trying to figure out how to get neat edges when working a two color mosaic pattern that changes color after two rows. The edges will require pickup stitches for a front border in a kimono cardigan.
Ответитьtoo many ad!
ОтветитьThanks 😅
ОтветитьHello again. Love your videos. You explain everything so well. I have a question. Could the I-cord selvedge edge be done after the I-cord cast on and stitches picked up ready to start knitting the project? I am making a blanket and instead of knitting an I-cord border, I thought that I could do an I-cord cast on and I-cord selvedge edges then knit the I-cord bind off. Would that be doable?
ОтветитьThank you Norman! Careful, jolly explanations as ever. I have a patchwork blanket project in mind and will use at least two of your different edges!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьI asked you a question on picot edging, but the reply just said "Cancelled reply" does this mean you will not be replying now? Many thanks.
ОтветитьThank you for all the suggestions. I am a beginner trying to knit a scarf. I will pick the double/triple stitches on both ends because it keeps my knitting from curling and it's easy to remember.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьHi, I learned from your video som new technics. But Icord I make much less complicate. Simply just knit 2 or 3 stiches on the right side on both ends. On the wrong side just take this stiches purlwise with the yarn in front.
ОтветитьBeautifully explained! I love the written shorthand explanations and how you explain why the edges could look stretched. Thank you.
ОтветитьAh this is amazing, thank you for this video, I’ve watched so many videos trying to understand what to do, and I think I finally understand 😂 thank you
ОтветитьWhoever you are, Jesus loves you
Ответитьlast edge i really enjoyed was 1 column of garter stitch next to either edge. purl every last stitch and slip every first stitch knit wise. super easy. looks great. almost like a crochet edge.
ОтветитьThank you for this godsend, I'm going to watch it again just a little bit slower. Love and luck from a Scottish grandma ❤️🍀🏴🧓
ОтветитьThank you for the video for tighter edges. I want to know, where can I get a pair of those cute scissors?
ОтветитьThankyou for the tutorial, enjoy watching it,
ОтветитьThank you very much, Norman. I like making dish clothes as gifts, but they are imperfect due to my edges. I shall be watching this video a few times in order to gain perfection. You are such valuable person with your endless wealth of knowledge ✨️ 🧶🇦🇺
ОтветитьGreat video! I am making a onesie for a baby and was wanting to know what type of selvedge edge would be good for the leg portion of the onesie. I want something with stretch yet good for picking up stitches. What would you recommend?
ОтветитьPart 1, the explanation of what I am doing wrong, and how, was absolutely delightful! I appreciate how you broke down what the stitches are doing in order to help me learn. Thank you! Keep creating! ☺️
ОтветитьI absolutely LOVE your scientific approach!
ОтветитьHi Norman, great video! Could you please make a video about fair isle knitting? I enjoy knitting from the early age off 6 years (I'm 51 now), but I still struggle with it. Thanx a lot and keep up the great (knitting) work!🧶🧶🧶
ОтветитьThank you so much! I appreciate that not only point out problem areas but explain the mechanics for a better understanding of knitting in general.
Ответитьamazing amazing video
ОтветитьHow do I find the second channel?
ОтветитьThank you for this Norman I can’t think why I couldn’t find it before, so thank you for replying to my request! How to buy you a coffee again ?please!
ОтветитьThank you so much, really needed this today!
ОтветитьYou are a genius!!!! Your videos have been the absolute best! The most informative and the way you approach topics make things so easy to understand. I would classify myself as a beginner. When following a knitting pattern I had no idea making a few little changes like this would turn, someone else’s, pattern into something so much better!
I absolutely love doing cables and I want to make a sweater so I’ve been trying to find a pattern or even figure out one for myself (I would love to do this, I think I’ve got quite a way to go before this). Ive been making so many swatches watching your videos learning new techniques and improving on what I’ve already known. I’m getting a little closer for each swatch! Thank you for all of your time and the knowledge you are sharing!!! TY!!
I think I left many comments here but I never thanked you. I totally need to thank you! You are so full of knowledge and we are lucky you share it with the world!
I have a problem with the double stockinette selvedge. It's pulling on my fabric even if I try to knit the edge stitches as loose as possible. Do you have any tips? Thanks!
Thanks so much! I am working on a scarf that is curling a lot. That's what I get for trying to wing it with the pattern without knowing this important basic know how. 🤔👍😉
ОтветитьI am back again to savor your teaching the edges, a great video to refer back to from time to time, so much refinement. You really have a great savvy of mechanics and I stand by my previous comment a year ago as well!
