I don't know how much is a Gateway, but if it's cheaper than the Cubic Ninja game, wouldn't it be possible (and cheaper) to hack the 3DS with a Cubic Ninja game running on a Gateway?

I remember when cubic ninja got really expensive and I found a used copy at GameStop for like 15 dollars

I did that back in the day to run Sega Mega drive, Neo Geo, and Arcade games on my N3DS!

The biggest irony is that AQ Interactive went bankrupt by the time Cupic Ninja was being used to hack the 3DS. They would have gained a lot of moneyif they had been still around.

In the end, it's much cheaper for Nintendo & Co. to buy out (and muzzle) those "security researchers".
Swinging the seize and desist hammer not only generates negative press, but could actually fail and set a "dangerous" precedent.
Also, while they officially don't like Emulation, they heavily profit off of it, in terms of know-how gathering and customer engagement. And it keeps old systems and games alive, way past their "expiry date"... which helps them to gauge what "classic" properties can be rereleased with low risk and high profit margins.

I didn't own it but I purchased sky3ds card and used it with cubic ninja rom, which works the same as Cubic ninja cartridge.

I remember using this game to hack my 3DS back then. Thankfully someone in my area was kind enough to donate a copy to the local library, so I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg to use it. Whoever did that, you're an absolute legend.
