Lol by the look of it, I need a shipping container to store all the bits and pieces all the gadgets to secure the trailer yet they all can be defeated lol hahaha then a shipping container would be the best option!

If you remove the tires and wheels don't leave your brakes and hub exposed to the elements. After removing the tire put a Heavy garbage bag over the hub and brakes and wrap duct tape around the bag at the axle.

Great video & awesome tips, sir! I got a fairly heavy duty bumper pull that I park in the back of my 125 foot driveway, which extends far back enough so it is blocked by one side of the house. Me and my wife’s cars are parked directly in front of it, so it is pretty boxed in & hard to see. They’d have to come from the back or the other side which is close to impossible without being detected, because the neighbors have too many sheds/obstacles in their back yards, as well as driveway barriers that I have that were there when I bought the house, so they’d have to tear everything down, and when you factor that in with a GPS tracking system, dome security camera on the house, some of the deterrents that you mentioned (which probably aren’t necessary in my case, thanks to the residential layout) Plus, the fact that the neighbor is always up at night, it’d be almost impossible for them to get away with it!

About 50 years ago my Grandfather put several burst of rock salt into the butt of two guys trying to steal equipment from his farm! Our local Sheriff was still laughing about it when I asked him to verify the story 30 years later!!!

Great video. We are soon to pour a new concrete driveway. I was thinking of setting some kind of eye bolt into the concrete that I could lock the utility trailer to with a cable or chain. Where to get such a bolt?

I put a lock on my jack so they couldn't lower it without cutting the lock. And wrap my chains around the jack handle, Anything to slow them down

My trailer is red with a large Woody Woodpecker head on both sides. Anyone steals mine pretty easy for me and the cops to spot it if still trying to get away.

I have 2 friends who guard my trailers Smith and Wesson and a Cat in the back.

Stopped a trailer theft in a parking lot. Guy went into grocery store with mowers attached. Thief used his own chain to drag trailer away from truck. Had already removed his plates, so while they are dumb and lazy, sometimes a thief will plan ahead...

Excellent video. Minutes count so every extra layer of security will cause the thief to take longer to take it. I also put an AirTag on mine; It’s cheap and you don’t have to pay a membership for it. If you have a drive way you can put a hook with a chain that’s not visible when someone hooks it up so when they are taking it they won’t notice it and will make a lot of noise. I have a ring camera also aimed at it. Additionally, if you’re leaving the trailer parked for a long time; it’s a good idea to put up on wood or stands to keep the tires off the ground to save your tires.

Great info. This making me not want a trailer. Almost comical how much thinking you have to do to keep the unproductive folks in society from taking your hard earned tools.

I usually chain mine over/under the axles, thru the A-frame & to a big pine tree in my yard.

Trailers in my country have a unique identification number, and are required to be registered (insured) and display their registration plates.

Why not a loud, horn motion alarm,backed up by an interior mounted 12 volt?? Add some exterior flashing lights as well! Yes.. Good solid locks and a log chain around the tires are perfect for that vibration, and motion for the alarm!!

I have all a few of the locks you have shown and usually keep the trailer hooked to the truck … guess what… the locking receiver bolt is INSIDE of the truck!! Never thought about taking the pin out , busting the release tab lock and away they go… DUHHH!

The only thing I would add for cargo or RV trailers is to install a solar-powered, motion-sensor light on each face of the trailer -- especially if it's kept in a remote area like a storage lot. The added bonus is you are provided with instant light when you are around it in the dark.

My utility trailer was stolen right off my driveway. I have replaced it with an identical trailer but I modified the whole a frame to make the coupler and an insert removable as well as the safety chains and the electrical cable. When I use it I just insert the coupler along with the chains and cable, insert two 3/4" pins and off I go. I am trying to come up with some type of swing down jacks that will lift the trailer off the ground and the jacks will be dragged on the road creating a lot of sparks and noise.

Yep I use most of these options, I also use a tried and true measure....a 2 part measure....Rottweiler and a 12 Guage.

I park my trailers behind my shop, lock them, lock the gate, and put my guard dog in the yard. Yes, he does bite.

Ahh hell just flip your trailer upside down when not in use, yes its ugly to see all that rust but you can inspect your wiring that way. Haaa

I put mine up on blocks and pull a four wheels plus a locked the tongue for six months out of a year. No matter what you do if they really want it they take it. I just make mine less desirable.

I normally let mine hooked up as I have a truck dedicated to pulling it. I back it up to the garage so no one can get to it from any direction.

Good tips i myself will remove tire with hub assembly if you are mot going to use trailer and is back at the farm and still use hitch lock.

We had a camper on isolated private land in Wyoming. Dad kept the gate locked and the wheels removed. Unfortunatly, the trailer was partially visible from the highway. Some knuckle-dragger made off with it after cutting the lock and bringing their own tires. Should have painted a camo pattern, poured some concrete footers and chained the frame to the ground in about 20 places and pulled the axel.

How would you secure the BIG BOLT/NUTT that Tightens the HITCH BALL down? Can a bad guy simply loosen it and pull it up and just drop it down into his or her hitch? My wife and I have been pondering over this overlooked object. No one has a spoke on it, or have we just missed it? Thanks for letting me share.
