Day in the Life of a Typical Japanese Cosplay Worker

People miss the part where she said she "enjoyed" doing cosplay and stuck with it. I see lots of comments hating on their lives or jobs. The issue often focuses on the monetary or status aspect though. I personally turned down major money to do a really interesting job and it is far more worth knowing internally that you find purpose in your job than it is making money...unless you make like insane amounts of money to do other things. That is a future goal.

Hey, Ikebukuro station! I'm more of a fan of Shinjuku/Shibuya, but Ikebukuro is pretty cool too. Anyway, she's really lucky to get paying gigs doing cosplay modeling/livestreaming though, as so many girls in Japan want to do that. The competition is fierce and many of them are lucky to get 1 or 2 low paying gigs a month, and often times even if they livestream for hours will make maybe $10-20.

And the pressure only ramps up as they get older, idols between 14-19 can do well and build a fanbase (it's Japan folks, you'll see full grown men at a 14 year old idols booth all the time), but once they hit 20, every year their prospects and popularity drops. By the time they hit 30, it gets really rough.

I had no idea cosplaying could be a job, I thought it was just a hobby 🤣🤣
