So the crater is the top “bowl” of the volcano and the edge is where you go down to get to the base of the volcano? Ive never really understood the concept even tho ive play subnautica multiple times

The crater rim or the edge of the world used to be towering peaks jutting up forming a labradorite while sky quakes fill the noise.

Reminds me of Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha’apai. That recent caldera collapse and the edges of which 2 peaks are islands

Last Bacon I know you'll never read this but if you have a drone camera from a scanner room it can go down to around 10,000 meters and than you'll lose connection. You can test it out for yourself.

Ngl, the first time I came to the Deadzone and saw the MASSIVE Ghost Leviathin, I drove my Seamoth back to my base as dast as possible, and once I got inside my base, the Emperor Levaithin started talking to me for the first time, and I got scared shitless.

This place is especially notable because there is a fallen meteorite here. In the crater of the meteorite is a hidden cache of UFOs. Take the purple plate to remove the barrier. Look out! Reaper. You can't see the Leviathan, but it's there.

If the whole playable area in subnautica is a crater shouldn't the surrounding area be raised higher up than it?

I'm in subnautica right now in creative and there's three ghost Leviathans trying to eat me💀, but I just became their friends

Fun Fact: If You Manage To Travel Far Enough Into The Void , You Will Reach A Point Named "Koosh Zone" Where Its The Same Thing As The Void But The Ghost Leviathans Dont Follow You And The Area Has A Similar Fog As The Crash Zone

Idk if I’m stupid or what but if it’s a crater, why is it raised above everything? I feel like I don’t get it so if it’s a crater it should be an indent in the ground that supports all this life in the game and everything else around it would be dead but it’s the opposite we’re raised above all the rest of the planet?

I don't have thalassophobia, but the mere thought of the Crater's Edge/The Void is enough to give me nightmares.
On my first play through of Subnautica, I decided to challenge myself and scan all of the known Leviathans before leaving the planet (without using a Stasis Rifle, mostly because I was terrible at aiming it). The Reaper Leviathan was surprisingly easy (I used my Seamoth as bait so I could scan the Reaper from behind. The Seamoth miraculously survived), the Sea Dragon was a pain (I went through multiple strategies, health kits and repairs before I finally got it), and the Juvenile Ghost Leviathan was somewhere in-between (not as easy as the Reaper, but nowhere near as frustrating as the Sea Dragon)

I scanned those Leviathans without getting scared (well, mostly), but that all changed when I went into The Void to scan the Adult Ghost Leviathan.
I tried going in with the intent of using the Seamoth as bait again, but as the crater got further away and the ocean grew darker and darker, my heart started hammering and even my hands started shaking. There's a massive difference between going after leviathans in a brightly lit environment where you can see all around, and going after them in the pitch darkness where anything can happen, and the Leviathans can come at you from anywhere.

I decided to go back and use the Cyclops instead. I felt a little more confident, but no less terrified. I died the first time, but the second time I was successful. I ended up leaving the Cyclops behind to get out of there as fast as possible, and for some reason the Ghost Leviathans left it alone. I guess the Cyclops isn't considered a threat when no one is operating it.

in my opinion we know there is something bigger in the void because of how massive the whole world is and also think of sector zero that's something out there in the void and there's got to be other places like sector zero and the crater.

Before the Kharaa it was the alive zone. Then some idiot came in and got disease everywhere, now it’s the dead zone. 😅
