Think this through: is it better to argue with your customers over an outlier situation in which any perceived loss would be trivial OR is it better to set less rules that create possible conflicts and true losses of income when the customer never returns himself or with any friends and family over the years?

Standing on rules is a distraction and just the same as standing on an outdated concept or stupidity. Especially when the same desired outcome or greater can take place while eliminating the rules at the same time.

You need your customer. They don't need you. They have many options. You want to be their only option. The impetus is on you to accommodate them.
