How to delete files, folders, pictures, music, in Mac

i have a very stupid question: How can I select and delete individual file in the Trash folder? I don't want to empty trash entirely as I share the computer with other users.

I'm looking for how to do this because I DO NOT EVEN GET THE "EMPTY TRASH" option, it is NOT AN OPTION, so HOW DO I DELETE FOLDERS IF I AM NOT GIVEN THAT OPTION?

Most people want to high light one file and then move fast away to a distant file so all the files in between can be erased with one click like can be done easily on a HP machine. hOw can this be done?

When I 'right' click with my plug in, or cordless mouse, all I get are 2 options. "Quick View" or "tags". I don't get an option to delete. Also...you don't show how to delete individual pictures. I don't have folders but I have scads of individual pictures that I want to delete. Without a ;move to trash' option on my right click, what do I do? 

Trash progress bar shows. The number of items to be deleted shows. Then delete stalls. No progress. The files were from a camera or deletes clip for Imovie trash. I don't think they are locked, and no error message shows.

I have some movie files that won't delete. Any suggestions?

I have a question. I have a usb with some important info on it. I recently gave it away to a friend. Before i did this I dragged all my files off the usb and into the trash. (I have a mac) However, i was not aware at the time that you had to also empty the trash with the usb connected to permanently delete the files. Does that mean my friend will be able to see my files when he connects the usb to his computer?  please let me know. Thanks
