My class pet’s late hamster, a short haired syrian named Krimpets, sadly had a tiny tales cage :(
My classmates or me didn’t know because we didn’t do research and she wasn’t our homeroom for a while, but then one day she escaped. My math teacher gathered us all up for the last 10 minutes of class for a circle, and then he told us the news. Krimpets was dead :(
A few people started to cry and step out of class for a quick break, so naturally 3 people including me sobbed to our lockers

I have a Prevue 528 cage I I got that recommendation from you). I have an 8 or 9 inch silent spinner. Do I need the cage attachment for it? Wow, I couldn't believe the amount of bedding it took! I can see I'm going to be spending a lot of money on bedding! It's carefresh and it's not cheap.

I feel so bad for my hamster I had a 15 gallon with barely any bedding no enrichment and the food had bugs in it now mochi has a 40 gallon a bunch of clean bedding better food a huge wooden hide hay and a sand bath a bunch of chew toys she’s doing so much better now I wish I did better research when I first got her she’s the sweetest little hamster ever i love her so much

I had three Syrians while I was teaching at the Washington state and I just adopted a new little boy is about 2 1/2 months old here in Florida. I am still a teacher and I love this book that you’ve just introduced me to. I have not heard of it before but I do plan to get it for my classroom. I do plan to read it to my six year old first thing next fall in school starts up again. You have a great day and I love your channel. You’ve helped me be a better hammy parent and now I’m sharing that knowledge with the kids I work with and their families. Thank you.

I'm doing my best but my problem is lack of space and money...I'm having to buy things for him slowly and unfortunately the biggest I can go right now with a cage is 40 inches. which is good I think? as much as I'd love to go bigger. here's to hoping it doesn't take me too long to get everything I need haha. considering I've already sank like 400-500$ into his enclosure and it still needs a lot of work-

Just FYI, popsicle sticks in general are not hamster safe. The type of wood splinters if chewed and can injure them.

For my hamster I had at least a 40 gallon bin cage about 7 inches of bedding some hay in a small dish a sand bath a water BOWL i bowl fed and scatter fed and I had lots of toys 🥰

I did this with my guinea pigs. I got them a small 4x1 or 4x2 or something it was from petco so it was probably smaller. They had paper bedding and a few hides and i did give them the proper treats and food and hay and stuff that they needed but the cage was way to small. So i begged my parents for months to get me a bigger cage. Atleast a 5x2 and they said no since it was so expensive but then around Christmas this year they finally bought me one and ive given my 2 piggies the life they deserve and they now have a big fleece blanket as bedding, tons of hides, tons of treats and chews and everything they could want.

The cage i have is from KAYTEE but tbh i don’t recommend that cage. Their cage is bad quality. It falls over very easily so i had to use zipties to make sure everything stays held together. But the zipties cut me so easily and the bleeding is bad so idk how much i really recommend that cage. Other than that it works good. My 2 piggies names are Chili and Cj (for chili jr since chili is his son)



Heres a story of my guinea pigs if you want to hear it.

So around 2021 i got my first guinea pig named Peanut. He was mostly black and had some caramel spots and some white spots on him. But the next morning that i had him he passed away and it was most likely from a sickness. The same day Peanut passed i got a new guinea pig who was a few months older than Peanut and i named him Chili! He was mostly white and has some black spots and a few red spots. Then my brother wanted a guinea pig so we ended up getting a female guinea pig 1 week later and my brother named her Ginger. She was mostly red and had a few black and white spots on her. Chili and Ginger lived together and then we found out Ginger was pregnant. So we bought a new cage that would be her delivery cage. So a few weeks gos by and she gives birth to 4 piggies. One was sadly found dead. So the 3 babies were named Cj, Belle, and Rose. Rose and belle looked like chili except rose was a slick hair. Then later that night Ginger sadly passed away and we didn’t know the reason. So we were scared as we never raised piggies. So we got some evaporated milk that was in a can that could act as a substitute for a mother guinea pigs milk. We heated it up and we spoon fed it to them every 2 hours including nighttime. It was exhausting but at-least it was in the summer so we had no school. Eventually we weaned the piggies off milk and weaned them on water and normal pellets. Belle and Cj did have seizures along the way due to lack of vitamin C aka (Scurvy) but now the girls, Belle and Rose have their own cage in a 5x2 together and are healthy and Cj and Chili have their own 5x2 cage together an are all happy and healthy. They are all around 2 or 3 years and have happy years ahead of them!!

Re-watching this video gave me so many ideas on other ways i can improve my Russian dwarf hamster (winter) enclosure. X

hi, i know i have good hamster care since watching your videos but there are two things im unsure of.
•first: Food. i don't know exactly everything that needs to go into the seed mix and what shouldn't.

•Second: Vets. do i need to take my hamster to the vets for check ups or only if i can see if they're ill or not acting normal?

I started around 2018 with a critter trail for my hamster my later hamster tango had a critter trail for a few months then I saw your channel and the same day k went out and got a bin cage no lid yet and put all my bedding in these of course it wasn’t enough to even cover the floor so I pushed it all to the side for deep bedding I put papper towels and toys on the other side until I got more stuff then I attached the critter trail to the bin cage go a sand bath and it was around 1000 sq inches all together then I a nother hamster and another bin cage arond 6inches of bedding lots of toys on stuff after those hamsters died I got a actual cage over 1000sq inches got bedding lots of toys sand bath soil big wheel and better food that was around 2020 got way more hamsters and made more diy cage all over 1000sq inches my care is still improving as I am still not satisfied I have had 6 hamsters one just died am broke my heart bc I had a very strong connection with her but I am taking a break I think I might try mice but this time I Will save my money and get all the needs for them k have done all of this and I am 11 yr old 2023 it is possible hopefully I can be just like you when I older but I can only try my best and there care is enough for them to be happy but of course happy is not enough for me I am very grateful for you to have told me or I don’t know we’re I would be in life thank you ❤

about a month ago I got REALLY tempted to buy a hamster on fb, the girl kept it on a small cage about 4x his size and said to feed it once a day. ç.ç
I didn't get him cause I had no cash or health to care for it (also I have a very murderous cat)

My husband surprised us with a hamster he rescued from being set free. Poor thing has a tiny cage and doesn't like us and wants to get out of this space. I told him I'm getting a 50 gallon bin tonight and bedding to get him started buy gosh. Seeing all of this makes me feel guilty I can't buy all the toys for him right away. All the ones I want for starting out will cost me 100 alone not including new wheel :( so in just focusing on the basic food water and wheel with what toy he does have and then build from there.

At least he'll have 8+ inches of bedding right? :(

some advice for anyone wanting to get a lot of supplies for their hamsters but they dont have the money right now, slowly buying more supplies each paycheck will slowly build up over time until you're ready to bring home your hamster. trust me, i had only 1 wheel and a few hideouts and chews when i started out, but now i have 4 of them with 15 hides (including multi chamber hideouts), jars of sprays, 15 inches of bedding, 3 kinds of digging material, and a ton of toys and chews, all for 2 hamsters. I did most of the buying before getting them, and now they have an extremely enriching living environment.

My hamster has a bin cage and I am trying to get him a bigger one but my parents said that since he is a dwarf hamster he is fine in the cage he has and I’m trying to make it look natural but they are telling me to make my own stuff instead of buying things and that I can grow my own stuff and they won’t let me get him sand or dirt that he doesn’t need it cause the previous owner didn’t have dirt or sand but the previous owner said that they didn’t any research the family bought it for her birthday even after they had the hamster for a little while they still did research so if I can’t take proper care of him then I’m probably going to give him to a better home so he can have a long healthy life

I felt like I was pretty knowledgeable about hamster cages until I watched your videos! I knew they needed different types of enrichments but all I knew was to get a lot of wooden chews and the appropriate wheel. Im so excited to get my hamster different substrates and dig boxes, etc. how to create an enriching setup, layers, etc. thank you !

are there any recommended sites to look up so I can learn more ab hamsters and their care?

I am 45 and I wish I had known when I was a kid how to properly care for them. It's great to see how much progress has been made for the care of hamsters. I never felt great about the tiny cages... I knew they were not happy with all the chewing on the cages.

I am getting my daughter a hamster soon and have learned a lot but also feel overwhelmed with what is needed. While I understand that it took you a long time to learn and this is awesome, what would be your advice for a new hamster parent starting out so that we give our furry kid the best care and home we can while we are learning too?

I wish there was a basic minimum set up kit we could get that would have everything needed in it and you could just add to it as you can. Is there something like that? If we can’t really go to the pet store and get much is there a checklist of what is needed where?

Also, as far as care and maintenance….I thought I was set with the pamphlet from tbe pet store but now I’m sure I’m not.

Would love a video on new set up. Maybe like, let’s go shopping for a new hamster. I’ll show you everything you must have and how to set it up and the extras you can get later on.

I want to do the best I can for our pet from tbe start and am overwhelmed.

about a week ago, i got my first hamster! I'm pretty sure she might be an albino hamster bc of her very white fur and red-ish eyes and pale ears. her name's Luna and she's a syrian, and I have her in a 500 sq ft bin cage. I'm definitely still learning and improving, so it's very refreshing to see this video and realize that we all start somewhere :))

I think about campbells that they do best alone but most robos enjoy being with a friend, they sleep together and they kinda just do everything together and cause they can't really be tamed so easily, friend for them would make them have more fun in the cage, however you think, but other hammys don't need and don't want friends, keep that in mind guys

When I got my first hamster, we took the pet stores recommendation. Soon after, however, when we looked in the cage it just didn’t seem like enough. We ordered a cage about 500 square inches and set it up. It had a big ledge and was a nice sized cage, but I added no enrichment. I’m just happy that Coconut had enough bedding to make a den, and that the cage wasn’t so small. I feel like that was so long ago, but for my birthday last year we got an ikea detolf for the new hamster I was getting. My hamster now lives in the ikea detolf with a lot of enrichment.

The extreme crittertrail cage had the wheel on the outside, yet they still couldn’t be bothered to make it big enough. Bruh.

Can you explain the use / what is of a multi chamber hide out ?
