It was actually the format that would creep up on the pedal and hold it down....
you're able to put the car in neutral or turn the vehicle off but leave the key in auxiliary mode you'll still have a steering and you can use the brakes one good time before they get hard to press. On most vehicles. an all else fails put in the wall.

For vehicles with keyed ignitions - Turn the key back one position, and then back forward until you feel the first click. That will kill the engine and insure that the steering wheel doesn’t lock, without turning the engine back on.

Put the car in neutral, turn the engine off, turn the key to ACC position so your steering doesnt lock. Dont buy another toyota.

Poor guy, I've heard this story, if this ever happens to you, put your car in neutral and try to shut it off. If it doesn't shut off at least you're in neutral, the engine will blow though after max revving for so long.
