Come Little Children: Version B (Happy Halloween) - Batfam Animatic

Couldn't find an explanation for this one so I'm just gonna go with "Bruce is murdered rather than dying of shock/hypothermia/etc. and becomes a vengeful spirit, taking children he sees as thrown away or left to die like he was. He thinks he's helping them when in reality he's killing them, trapping their souls in the same vengeful-purgatory-state he's in. Tim Drake has noticed that both Jason Todd and Dick Grayson went missing on Halloween and that around those times a shadowy, bat-like creature was spotted lurking the streets of Gotham. On Halloween after he realizes the connections, he decides to go out and investigate, hoping to catch some evidence of the creature and maybe even figure out what happened to the two missing boys. Then he sees someone hunched over in the shadows, another kid who appears to be in distress. He approaches the boy, only to have a sense of being watched as soon as the shadowed boy looks up at him. He is the third victim of the batman.

I'd like to think that he's wanting to help them and he still sees himself as a person rather than a shadow creature. And that's why "it" is smiling at the kids because Bruce doesn't want to go off as a threat but that's what he is.

Here's my question about universe B, since Bruce wasn't allowed peace when he died, does that mean the criminals of universe B also don't get any? Or does he kill them off? What does Gordon think about this and what is his roll? As we saw in universe A he work with him, and since Tim was investigating this, does he ultimately connect the dots as well? Will 5he bat take Barbra as a penance? Or.... Does he do worse?

I was preparing to cry (again) because I knew the original story. I had also just got done watching the new version of Haunted Mansion Singing Busts, so I was expecting another "pretty much the same but with slightly different drawings and a few less seconds per frame" and not....this.

It's heartbreaking, but more in a "this is horrifying" way than "this is so bittersweet" way.

Would universe a batman be able to stop universe b batman if their worlds somehow collided, or would B Batman be too strong for A Batman to handle (because if humans can be stronger with emotions, why not spirits too? They don't even have physical bodies that can become too tired to feel - they just keep going.)?

Gosh, you know what's SO creepy about this version? If you take Version A into account, THIS Batman isn't crying. His eyes are tiny and dangerous when they lock onto the kids. And the SMILE in place of the tears is so sinister, like, Version A cries all the time not just for himself but for the pain these kids are going through. Version B doesn't feel the kids' pain... in fact, he's happy to have found someone hurting, like him.

What a brilliant reversal of emotional expression. The negative emotion - sadness - is portrayed to indicate love and compassion. The positive emotion - happiness - is portrayed to indicate cruelty.

So, if Bruce became a vengeful entity in this AU, then the Joker might be the polar opposite, trying to save as many kids as possible before it is too late.

Um so I'm coming here from the og trilogy all happy but also sobbing bc of the rollercoaster of emotions I just went through and now I'm sobbing for a different reason entirely... anyways good job because all of this has been amazing and I cannot stop crying.

Okay, was really half expecting during that final scene for them all to one by one start to smile, you know just to dial up the creep factor to 11. But the black screen save for their eyes works just as well, great video, well done!

I don't know if I like this one better than the original one you made because that one was so much sweeter and adorable, but also I love the just, darkness of this version, I love dark and disturbing, as I am dark and disturbing disguised as bubbly and adorable.

Honestly, this feels more like Joker. Like a more traditional Fae like entity that loves to screw with everyone on their whims. Joker is Batman's foil and opposite, he had his One Bad Day to that destroyed him and decided to take it out on the world. With a void in his heart from lack of closure and filled with hate, being drawn to pain of others could fill him with sadistic pleasure as he leaves his victims broken in his wake with bone chilling smiles. Leading to sadistic cult followers attempting to appease him with anarchy out of fear and his allure.
Wonder how these 2 spirits would clash?

It really shows that Bruce was a child when he died. In version A he was called to take up the mantle of Batman to ensure no one else goes through his pain. He took in his kids because they were like him, and he wanted to help. Only a child could be so willing to help people, and only a good man would be willing to take the pain of dying at such a young age and utilizing it to make the world a better place.

Meanwhile in version B Bruce is brutally murdered, and instead takes his mantle. He is not only a wrathful spirit, but a suffering one, and misery loves company. He takes those kids because they are like him, abandoned by the world and easy vessels for his childish rage.

A cries because of grief, for himself and his family. B smiles because his misery is getting company

This version gives off that uncanny vibe especially having wathed the first version and knowing what could have been for the Smiling Bat, and just... God maybe I shouldn't have watched this when the house is dark and dead...

ok but like.... what if they died but instead of like normal they turn out to be like the ghosts/halfa's of Danny Phantom. but like... no one can see them expect those they go about killing? so kind of like a Danny Phantom/Reaper like version?

Ok kind of makes sense… this (universe A) Bruce’s parents died like normal, but instead of being saved by the cops or Alfred he found himself in a toy shop. It helped “heal” his soul, then he followed the voice of Gotham. He was drawn to the orphans in distress going through similar situations like he did. He trained them, but only when he chose them could they see him. Seeing as Tim is unable to photograph Bruce.

Meanwhile in universe (b) Bruce was unable to get his closure, and instead was shot by Joe Cool. This left a void in his heart. And you can see this difference when you realize… the voice of Gotham never calls to him in universe (b), and thus he never calls to the children. Instead, since he is filled with negative hate, he is drawn to the children’s pain. We can see the moment Richard realizes the negative force vs the positive one. He panics and Bruce prevents him from screaming. He steals the kids, their fates undiscovered by local late enforcement, probably written off as a runaway. Tim attempts to figure out what happened to Jason and Richard, where he finds one of them in an alley. He goes to try and help, unaware of the demon behind him, and then gets taken away as well.

We never hear the vocals in universe (b) because there is no good intent in Bruce’s heart, he never heard Gotham sing to him, and now… if he wasn’t allowed peace… why should they have it?
