Wavelength is not determined by distance. The Doppler effect is due to the compression of waves because of the change in location of the wave source.
Consider a stationary object. The frequency (distance between waves) of waves produced is the same in all directions. Now consider a moving one. Each new wave is created slightly closer to the previous one on one side because the source of the waves has moved beyond the original wave's creation point, with the previous wave.
i liked the video ....
ОтветитьComplete bullshit. Wavelength doesnt change with distance.
ОтветитьI have a hard time being able to know what you are saying is true and what is incorrect I don't even understand WiFi. frequency of your signal never changes you will always be on 2.412-2.484 GHz if you are on 2.4 GHz or 4.910-5.835 GHz if you are on 5 GHz depending on which channel your Wi-Fi router is using to broadcast on. if you're going to say something in a video that is instructional and/or teaching video make sure you're not saying something absolutely stupid frequency of Wi-Fi is the same always
ОтветитьAwesome video man! Keep it up!
ОтветитьHęÿ
ОтветитьIdiot
Ответитьi think youre trying too hard to make this channel like other successful science channels. its structured just like scishow, and the music is kinda veritasium-esque. Suggestion, make this channel its own format. with new ideas instead of ones covered already. and drop the intro.
Ответитьyoure so shit.this was too basic.duuuh.everyone knows this.i wanted deeper analysis.
ОтветитьFortunately NGC 7603 and about fifty thousand other observations prove that WiFi signal is only picking up local frequencies and can't possibly see in the universe. If it could it would see lots and lots of bridges between so called high shift Quasars and nearby galaxies. Then there's that one they found in 2013 that shows it must be, if the theory is correct, 5% the size of the visible universe, which is impossible, and so on. So forget what they're teaching in school kids, it's, (in the words of Sheldon Cooper) ... Hocum :)
ОтветитьRedshift equals AGE of Quasars, nothing more. No matter how many bridges modern astronomy tries to photoshop out:)
ОтветитьDude, you have completely misunderstood the concept of red shift. Wavelength and frequency is not affected by distance to the source. The phenomenon is caused when the wave source moves relative to the observer.
ОтветитьI totally agree in "Dude, you have completely misunderstood the concept of red shift. Wavelength and frequency is not affected by distance to the source. The phenomenon is caused when the wave source moves relative to the observer". Sorry, but your explanation is very poor and very wrong.
ОтветитьThith ith completely wrong
ОтветитьThis guy got braces or something?
ОтветитьWhy is is that if I have a match and it's blue, walking away from it doesn't make it look red to me? Isn't a red shift what happens to light when it gets farther from you? How do we know red shifts and blue shifts are true?
I'm not a flat Earther, don't get butthurt over me asking a question. I'm a new astronomy student who's having mega hard time with this.
Asshole cosmological redshift is different from doppler redshift....
ОтветитьHow does moving closer to a router produce higher frequencies exactly? Also, the red shift is not explained at all.
ОтветитьThis is the best explanation by far
ОтветитьThis explanation is TOTALLY WRONG. Its relative to the SPEED over the object to the OBSERVER - not the DISTANCE. You need to re-write this whole video.
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьReally good video thank you
ОтветитьVery good!
ОтветитьThe ability for Scientists to use the Red Shift to explain Cosmic Evolution presumes that we are stationary and also that the red shift is exactly what they say it is. What if the red shift was not in fact the movement of things away from relative position but instead moving closer? With what real world ways do we have the ability to answer this question? Can anyone see a red shift from a stationary position on Earth of something moving farther away from us, or a blue shift of something coming closer? What is the required distance required to see the color shifting in the first place? Will 1 Mile be enough or does it have to be 100 million miles? What machines are used and who developed them?
ОтветитьRed shift is an untestable concept. We do not have the means to reproduce redshifts in a lab therefore it is only an idea
Ответитьdoppler effect only works because of air compression it has nothing to do with speed
ОтветитьI started watching the video and the first 4 seconds are ridiculous. "before the universe there was nothing, just pitch black". There's no such thing as nothing. Energy can neither be created or destroyed..so tell me how can there be nothing?
ОтветитьWay wrong. Sorry. Came across this video to show my kid who is learning about the Doppler effect. If any students out there are using this to learn about redshift pick another video.
ОтветитьSome facts in this video need a double check
ОтветитьRed Shift is the best indicator that the known universe is still in motion moving away from Earth's relative position in space. We can also conclude that we are near the center of the universe because all the objects we can see are shifted toward the Red end of the spectrum and nothing is moving toward us or shifted towards the Blue end of the spectrum.
ОтветитьGuy this is a kid while young guy doing this there's no sense in being rude
ОтветитьI think you did a pretty good job I'm explaining the common of the red shift thanks for making videos
ОтветитьBig bang is still a theory for your information. College noob
Ответитьyour understanding of the dopplers analogy was completely wrong....as moving closer or father from a router/AP doesn't change which frequency it broadcasts at, be it 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz. While higher frequencies do have higher throughput, do not confuse them with the Doppler effect.
ОтветитьTKEEO903! Wuts hatninin?!?!?!
ОтветитьSo blue and red shifting lights in the sky prove the big bang?
ОтветитьYou should delete this video. Your grasp of fundamental principles is so poor you should go back to school.
ОтветитьBeware: Brain Washing Alert. They assume the red shift is a doppler shift. There is also gravitational red shift and Compton red shift. Explain why our sun has a red shift.
Ответитьthat nothing was something... who create that nothing????
ОтветитьTerrible explanation.
The wavelengths appear shorter because they are generated from an object that is moving closer and closer.
Could red shift be nothing more than entropy at work? As light travels for millennia, it looses energy over time and moves toward the red. Like when a pebble is thrown into water, the waves get longer further from the center. Maybe the universe isn't expanding, but, just getting older... Convince me that I'm wrong...
ОтветитьHi APC yr 9's
ОтветитьDoes the frequency change depending on the size of the object?
Will a smaller objects produce a weaker frequency? Will a larger object producing more intense frequency?
Thanks
ОтветитьWho else is here because they were forced to watch it from schooool??? \('>')/
ОтветитьScience is good as an idea. If i create an idea of course im going to look for any "data" that supports my idea instead of the opposition. If science was completely transparent with all the "data" from all stages of reasearch and evident conlusions.....also all humanity would be able to further the understanding with our own "ideas".
ОтветитьCosmologists fail to understand one very simple concept of space... its density is not uniform all throughout; rather, its density varies. For consider this... We agree that space "bends" under the force of gravity, which explains the movement of bodies through their orbits, and the movement of light around bodies. In order for space to bend, it must contract on the one side and expand on the other side of any curvature of space. Take that thought one step further and we can see that in order for space to be more contracted in some places and more expanded in other places, it must have density (to a degree much higher than is currently accepted).
When measuring the luminosity of bodies and their distances, we need to factor-in any "pockets" of more dense or less dense space between us and them. Red shifts are suddenly much less reliable than we thought, since the redness of the shift could be caused not by distance alone, but also by any pockets of more dense space between us and its body. This is similar to the red sunsets we have on Earth, where the redness is caused by the sun's light passing through a thicker cross-section of the Earth's atmosphere at lower angles. A star's red shift, then, could be much more illusionary than we realize, much like a sunset's redness is. Just because one sunset is redder than another, does not mean the sun is farther away, but simply means there is more dust in the air.
So we need to find a way of accounting for pockets of varying space density here and there and wherever they may be. To do so, we need to note that the density of space is affected by matter. There is a body at the center of every pocket of dense space, and the greater the mass of that body, the greater the size and warpage of the "bubble" of warped space around it. For example, we know that the Earth bends the sun's light such that we see the ball of the sun at sunrise just a little sooner, and we see it at sunset just a little later than it actually is. If the Earth's mass were greater, we would see the ball of the sun even sooner at sunrise, and even later at sunset. So the greater the mass of a body is, the greater the size and power of the warpage of the space around it. This is why black holes trap light and any matter close to it, as the body at the center of the black hole contains so much mass that it warps the space around it to an extreme degree.
Pockets of varying space density force us to change our mapping of the whole universe. Bodies may not actually be where we currently believe they are, just like the sun isn't exactly where we see it as being due to the Earth's "bubble" of space warpage.
Description is not explanation
ОтветитьWhere was the center of the big bang explosion? Seems like we are in the center of the explosion. That doesn't seem right. Everything is going away from us? What? Were we at the center of the explosion? That reminds me of when our ancestors thought the earth was at the center of the solar system. What happens when you go far out into space to another star, would the red shift be the same for the same star observed from the star as us on earth?
