GRIDFAILURE - "Blades and Arson Instead"

GRIDFAILURE's "Blades and Arson Instead" is the third single to be issued from NEF100: Burn After Hearing, the Nefarious Industries compilation commemorating 100 catalog releases and featuring fourteen exclusive tracks that showcase the harrowing sonic landscape of the label's eclectic roster.

David Brenner opens up on the origin of the song's title, stating, "While gangs and assassins resort to using blades and arson instead of firearms in Japan and other countries where guns are heavily banned, regulated, or otherwise unavailable, GRIDFAILURE adheres to this methodology out of sheer work ethic. In the US, where guns outweigh the entire population and it's too easy to spinelessly open fire on one's enemy with their back turned, GRIDFAILURE would rather track down, corner, and make eye contact with the adversary while exacting the rightfully earned revenge. Lines are blurred between work and pleasure as vengeance is achieved, as one sector of the lyrics describe: 'At a time such as this one cannot be particular, To the living ones I wish to make you perpendicular, Blades sharpened or dulled, I’ll employ them all, Whatever can be utilized to detach your appendicular.'"

The "Blades and Arson Instead" video was directed, filmed, and edited by David Brenner.

NEF100: Burn After Hearing features new and exclusive songs from EL DRUGSTORE, ARBOGAST, NEQUIENT, RISK RELAY, GRIDFAILURE, THE DRX, ZEVIOUS, PSYCHOSOMATIC, BEDTIMEMAGIC, GEMATRIA, ZVI, FUCK YOUR BIRTHDAY, CINEMA CINEMA, and HUMANS ETCETERA. The compilation was marstered by Colin Marston at Menegroth, the Thousand Caves in Queens, NY, and the collage artwork was handled by Eric Nyffeler.

NEF100: Burn After Hearing will see physical release on June 14th as a limited edition LP pressing on 12" vinyl in black poly lined inner sleeve with full color insert (150 x Black, 150 x Black inside Transparent Red), an edition of 100 six-panel digipak CDs, and a run of 100 Smoke Tint cassette tapes.
