The raptor is a great choice you have no idea how much i used them and still do early game . Not only for killing but for traveling and taming too sharkos,trikes and even therazinos can be tamed with a raptor and no trap if you are willing to rusk a little

i have 2 pteranodon on ark mobile yet dont have the saddle,btw i also got 2 or 3 dilophosaurus,1 moschops,2 dodos,1 pachy and a parasaur.i got the pachy saddle tho and an aberrant raptor saddle yet dont have 1 lol

I always tame dilophosaurus before I tame raptors

Honestly I would have recommended the tapajara instead of the pteradon better weight best mobility flyer enough weight to do small metal runs and if your good you can use a tapajara to kill an alpha trex just keep biting its tail and land on a mountain to regen Stam and repeat it can't hit you also kinda easy tame Bola and knock out

One starter creature I think is one of the best for beginners is the gigapanthicus (bigfoot). First off, it is a passive tame, second of all, its mejo berry to tame. It deals good damage (can take out most carnos), low level rexes up to lvl 40, and can move pretty fast. Another thing is that you dont need a saddle to mount it. It is also a good berry farmer, for tranquilizer arrows.

Not me always aiming for the head of trikes cause I thought it would get more damage 🤡
