Quitting Tanking in FFXIV: My Current Dilemma

U seem more like a beneficial elitist than a detrimental elitist...Im sure everyone will watch ur videos no matter what u role u play.......as long as ur not a douche bag letting all ur achievements go to ur head and dissing on new players or inexperienced players in FF14. Nobody will support an egotistical elitist in any MMO unless they are egotistical elitists themselves. (ya I know this video is a year old)

What are your gear set up, my hp bar is not that high

I know I’m late to this video, but do what makes YOU happy. The viewers will understand and I don’t think you’ll suffer as much as you think in viewership. Also, have you considered range DPS? Love your stuff so far !

I realize this is late and you already made your choice, but I thoroughly encourage you to try out new things. I think playing all roles and learning the fights from other perspectives is a useful experience, an idea I'm sure you're familiar with as someone who's been doing this for so long. If you don't end up liking it, you still have your fantastic wealth of tank experience to return to and at least one static that no doubt would be very happy for it!

Melee DPS is awesome. I’ve always mained it and you say you don’t wanna tank anymore until you get these DPS queue times lmao. I’ve had the honor of getting you as my tank in roulettes and you were there while I was grinding my relic weapon right as patch 5.55 came out and you inspired me to try tanking. It would be sad to see you permanently switch

Coming from a person that does not find savage/ultimate enjoyable but frustrating, so take this with a grain of salt, might be different for you.

I have had magic classes always in MMORPGs, usually a healing kind of caster, so I went for WHM in FFXIV. WHM was my main and only battle job since 2014 up to a month ago, I find WHM fun, but wanted to try something else, because the game allows you to. Again, I do not need a static party, and usually keep on doing normal / hard / extreme content.

So a month ago I decided to start playing SAM, boy, I loved it, it felt so liberating to just enjoy the fight and not worry of 20 different things that I have to do at the same time.

DPS is so much less stressful than WHM, in my opinion healing is the hardest job, you have to be DPS and Healing, while doing mechanics and avoding most of the single target boss attacks to healers, they usually focus the healers with the AOEs and stuff. I know.

Then after leveling SAM to 80, I went into Frontline PVP, and loved it! I tried it time ago with WHM and it was ok, but with a DPS class is so much more smooth.

Then a few weeks ago, I also started leveling my first tank, PLD. And discovered that, even though you take all the boss DPS, most of the mechanics happen around you, so tanking is not as hectic as healing. And it is actually fun! I was completely terrified when I started leveling PLD but since I went through from lvl 1, instead of lvl 50 like SAM, I had time to learn what each thing does and introduce myself to tanking for the first time ever. It's a blast, especially when you know you can survive big ass pools of mobs. You just position the boss, keep aggro, help your party with interruptions, but don't need to be dancing around as much while trying to not spill the coffee.

I enjoy DPS 1st, then Tanking, then Healing. Remember I've always been a healer in MMOs so this can be somewhat biased as to getting tired of doing the same thing for years, iono.

Get a double degree? Top 1 Tank AND Top 1 DPS? Since your knowledge in tanking allows you to put out top tanking advice videos at any time. A DPS vacation for 2-3 months before you decide?

I enjoy the content but don’t ask me. I’ve got too much IRL shit going on that I barely get to play as is.

Not sure about ff14 viewers but a lot of MH Speedrunners succeed at being multi weapon users. maybe you’ll be fine 😉 👍🏻

The only people mad at you for stating your accomplishments are those salty dead weights in struggling statics, because they are obviously just jealous of you. You stating your achievements are a fact, not a brag.

People that turn to hate instead of seeking self-improvement when it comes to their problems are losers in mentality anyways.

Good players (purple and higher parsing) respect your opinions when it comes to raiding. Just keep doing what you do and ignore the negative noise that don't matter dude :)

As a new player and one looking to get into raiding i would love to see your input on all the melee jobs and guides for them as well,im also thinking about tanking or melee dps so it would be great,but what ever you do you have my support and im sticking with you :)

Started as a healer main and then switched to tank and after that never switched back again.

Playing since 4.3 I've more or less changed jobs and roles every tier. Starting with dragoon in sigmascape then dragoon and warrior in alphascape. Going over to bard, but ultimately deciding on monk for edens gate. Back to dragoon again for edens verse and now White Mage for edens promise. Dragoon and Monk on my first tea attempts, monk then ninja for my uwu attempts and now white mage for my current tea prog. Playing different classes and roles has let me experience a lot of different play styles and optimizations for each class. I dont regret any of my role changes except maybe bard as physical ranged is so boring to play due to how little effort it required. On the other hand I've never pushed for the top end logs deciding that 90+ is where i find my enjoyment of optimizations stop

So far i've only levelled a Paladin and a Samurai to 50+ and I've honestly not looked at what other jobs can really do. Well that's a lie I looked into Machinist but then heard they're kinda gimmicky.. and I haven't looked at other tanks.. As someon who's come from doing high level M+ in WoW as both tank and dps, I'm kinda lost on what job I want to focus on at 80+... any advice? (I understand it's all kinda the same, but I'm one of those min-max nerds, so I hate playing underpowered specs if I have a choice!)
