I almost feel like this media making kids grow up fast is connected to the pedo epidemic

I am 17 and the skincare I have is vaseline and rose water I am so grateful that I have asian parents and they are really strict Also the point that you made about watching people your age is so true cause I watch 20 to 25 years old and they talk about reading books which I got so passionate about but then realized I don't have time for that I NEED to read books that are actually in my curriculum

I am 12 I do ice hockey and will break out if I don’t do basic skincare so I spend my birthday money on just basic stuff at ulta like face wash, moisturizer, and lip balm. I am disappointed that my peers do such terrible things in stores like this and this is so crazy. Anyway if you read this have a great day! And don’t worry I am sure the problem will soon be fixed ( maby you should have to ask a worker to try out product 🤷‍♀️)

I am 14, I have 3 jobs lined up for this summer, my mother has told me I have to buy my own phone buy my own car, pay for my own car insurance all at 16, I will have no help paying anything. My 9 year old sister gets money from my parent’s for ulta whenever. I’m scared she will never be able to stand on her own.

I’m a teenager and I absolutely love make up, I started using makeup before it was popular and everyone started talking about it, I have a lot of make up that I bought with MY money, I wanna be a makeup artist, btw I’m really into it and I am professional now, so please don’t touch me, I’m doing what I want, I’m not destroying anything, don’t touch me, I have so many hater comments that are saying really rude things to me, but the thing is I’ve never said anything rude to anyone, and I’m not even preppy, can u please stop. And also just if someone doing what there like, and not doing anything bad to anyone, please don’t touch them
Also sorry for mistakes, I’m not English
Thx for reading

These kids need to be stopped!!! I’m a tween and am too scared to ask someone to move that I’ll awkwardly stand behind them for as long as it takes for them to get their product just so I can get my generic face wash. What worse is that if/when I go to Sephora or Mecca (with my mum) I’ll be side eyed by every worker there, I mean can you blame them though? 90% of tweens nowadays are rude, selfish, and don’t know what manners are.

See like this is an obvious fact that younger girls or kids will obviously want to do what their older girls or ‘role models’ do- so if they see someone who influences them doing makeup or shopping in Sephora they are gonna want to do it too-
Only thing is that they don’t realize what their boundaries should stop- or where they should limit themselves

Location: In & Out
Had lunch with my MIL, husband and son who at the time is only a year old and of course we have a stroller and all the gadgets. This KID who seems to be 10-11 comes up to our table and asks, "hey are you done with this table?" I said Oh no we are still eating but will be done in 10 minutes
This kid PROCEEDS to touch my MIL purse and literally shoved it aside and he ends up sitting at the table. I was so f- flabbergasted that I didn't say anything and I SHOULD HAVE but we were in a place where we could have been shot at for picking a fight... my MIL comes back and points at the kid and I gestured towards the door because I was so heated. She didn't say anything about it afterwards but she knew I was angry. I appreciated the hug she gave me though and trust me, she comes packing for a good christian lady. As for my husband, he was confused why I wanted to leave but he also pointed that it's good I didn't say anything honestly. The fact that the PARENTS had the audacity to just stand in line and not get their kid like?? Cmon now

I understand majority of this content is most likely made for adults and parents to get a look at what's going on and shining some light on common situations like this but I don't think its a terrible thing if pre-teens and or teens were seeing this as-well because like you said, its what content children are consuming and even seeing videos like this may help before they get influenced in skin care etc. too deeply.

Reminds me of a frozen yogurt store I loved. I was there when a group of teenagers came in and asked for sample cups. Then, they proceeded to fill their cups over and over, basically eating the amount in a full sized cup while causing a commotion. I felt bad for the employee. Next time I went, no samples for anyone.

It's very annoying how these 10 year olds are acting like the new 18 years olds? Like for me i wear just a tiny bit of the cheapest make-up and i use a face wash and a cream for my face, for my breakouts and pimples, at 13 years old. Maybe im a little young for some people, but maybe thats just the influence of the media on the kids these days. It's also up to the parents or caretakers, actually, to allow these types of stuff too

I let my kids play rather a lot of computer but it’s not unsupervised, and I have rules about what has to be done before they get on and what games they are allowed to play and how they treat each other while they play, if they are reasonable and treat others with respect they get a lot of freedom with their screen time but if they can’t be reasonable then they don’t get computer privileges and they have to go to their room or sit where I can easily discipline them if they lift a hand or foot to hurt someone. My kids also don’t have makeup, I hardly have any makeup, they get lip salve.

bad reputation on the Teens who are a bit more mature but I do try to help by taking a tissue to testers so their clean

Dude, I didn't even put eye shadow on till I was 19 except for maybe three special events,I new as much about makeup as a 10 year old male who lived in a family of dudes.people need to teach Thayer kids respect and how to act in a public stores. If I had done that when I was young I would get grounded for weeks and wouldn't be allowed in eny store untill I was grounded

One of the messed up things about this is that kids are "growing up too fast" in terms of the privileges of adulthood but without any if the responsibilities or accountability of it. Many behave immaturely for their age but then engage in activities and media intended for adults. Just one for recipe for disaster there.

As a young teenager who loves skincare and makeup, this is outrageously horrendous. I though we were in middle school, not Kindergarten. Has nobody told the to clean up after themselves? Drunk elephant sucks anyway, according to my sister who is a certified esthetician. (Sorry if that was not the right way to spell it.) I have A recommended skincare routine and have been getting my arms and underarms waxed since I was 10. All these rookies, get on *my* level.

Pulling your kids out of school isn’t the answer
You should just be teaching them good values and show them how important it is to be kids and not letting socia media control their lives. Kids are always going to want the new “it” brand. But the solution isn’t to pull them out of school for wanting to fit it. Your job should be to show them that being popular or fitting is is not everything. School is also crucial for healthy development & social skills

Randome question: Do you think bringing back school uniforms, makeup rules, and stricter dress codes would also help that "desire to have what others have" type of mentality for kids in school? If everyone was dressed the same and looked the same (not to the point of taking away their personality) then how would one desire for something the other had when they all have the same stuff.

Sooo maybe gentle parenting wasn't the answer...not only is this the ipad group, but also the kids that received gentle parenting. I don't understand why stores in general don't have the younger than 16 or whatever, must be with an adult. The parents didn't parent, many of which who aren't still together, and the children are feral with self entitlement and zero regard for others. Shocking. This is one of many reasons I don't want to raise children in this society.

You can see the same thing in content directed toward children! Netflix for kids these days is absolutely terrifying. Most of the shows involve teenagers and romanticize all kinds of sexuality and dating at a young age, among other topics that we don’t usually think of as appropriate for children such as technology use, clothing choices, peer pressure and influencers. There is no innocent children’s movies or shows anymore!
