What I think happened is Will Smith actually thought the joke was funny. If you watch the video, you see him start to laugh and then his wife is staring daggers through him. He looks over and sees that she is not amused and then reacts the way he did. He knew he had to do something or he was in the dog house when he got home. Not the smartest thing in the world, but that's how I saw it.

Listen carefully…. Ricky knew then, “He wanted to feel a man” More research needed on shady Diddy.

The hypocrisy of these men. Firstly, as someone who lost their hair to chemo, it's the worst thing ever. If someone had made fun of me with no hair, having to paint on my eyebrows and no eyelashes. Secondly, all of these men moaning about how unsafe it is for male comedians (maybe not here, but in light of Dave Chappelle getting approached on stage, and this happening to Chris Rock), they all moaned about being unsafe. I didn't see any of these guys sticking up for female comedians when they were going through all that shit with Louis CK and god knows how many other men were sexually harassing women. F**k em! The slap was uncalled for, but all of this nonsense around it, and pontificating about how unacceptable it was? Have a word with yourselves.

Ricky is a very intelligent. He shows empathy and does not harm innocent people. He understands what is going on in public and in personal lives better then most. The people he targets are very privileged often star behaving public figures. And even then he minds what he says. I can understand it can be a bit much for American audience as they are so sensitive about almost anything but in Europe his joking method is nothing extreme at all. Just remember it are all jokes only.

Will did it because he didn't know how to take it. That's what happens when you grow up with emotionally unavailable mother. You don't know how to lose or laugh at yourself. So, I get him. I'm not justifying him but I get him.

I also don't side with Chris like many others. Not everyone are Dave Chappelle and get away after making jokes about someone's illness.

Will Smith spent DECADES carefully crafting his public persona and career. He worked very hard to create the nice guy brand and built his way up to A list status. There is no way in hell he would even consider risking that for lsme staged stunt. Not a chance. That would give him zero reward or benefit, and solely obliterate his career and image, which is what happened.
