Ultima 7 best game ever. Only Fallout had any kind of decent story telling world since then. All those games suck and I'm glad he didn't include baldur.
Ответитьi like overall atmosphere in Sacred Gold
ОтветитьBaldurs Gate 2 is my favourite 😊
ОтветитьThe thing I really love about Pillars (aside from the lore), is the attribute system. It offers so much flexibility in character builds. The class system and multiclassing is cool as well. Lastly I really enjoy the way buffs and debuffs work. It's such a unique experience, and so well thought out.
ОтветитьGood picks in my opinion I've played through most of these just Divine Divinity and wasteland 3 which I haven't played at all.
Gotta say out of this list my favorite is Tyranny, I love that game and would adore a sequel, There are so many mysteries about the characters and setting particularly Kyros, It has SO much sequel potential.
Also I like the reactivity of it all theres so many little variations in your choices and how people react to them, While you are a minion in the evil empire effectively you get so much freedom in how to be the minion from all different levels of evil to even playing outright good while remaining a minion of the evil empire through the power of knowing how to play with the word of law.
Oh and I LOVE the magic system I want more games using the same or similar spell crafting system, Playing casters is my preferred way to play crpg's and that system is some of the most fun I have had playing a caster.
DoS 2 is seriously the best of them all, and maybe only outshined by BG3 we will see. I LOVED Pillars 1 and 2 didnt hook me, but i need to give it another shot.
ОтветитьDeadfire and Tyranny are both slept on. They're both better than the games that inspired them IMO
ОтветитьThe way you talk it reminds me of a college professor Very good thing
Ответитьwrath of the righteous didnt evne make the list? its at least better than kingmaker surely
ОтветитьWhy have I not played DOS2?
ОтветитьHA! Cheers for Divine Divinity dude 🤓 Kingmaker was really fun.
ОтветитьEnjoying DOS2 and POE2 atm.
Played Wasteland 3 awhile back when it came out... great game, loved the Christian Rock music that starts playing during special encounters. 👍
Name of the games
ОтветитьGood, good list.
Ответить+
ОтветитьIcewind Dale is my guilty pleasure of CRPGs
ОтветитьI've heard Wasteland 2 is superior to 3. Something about it being grittier and combat being more complex.
ОтветитьJust wanna say I've long been a jrpg fanatic and I've never given CRPG a shot but your channel has single handedly gotten me interesting in trying them - despite the fact that my backlog is absurdly huge. I really wanna give them a shot.
I think a great video topic would be 'if you are considering getting into cRPGS, what should your first one be?'
I haven't tried any as of yet but I do own Divinity OS and OS II, and OS II seems like the most obvious choice, but what do you think?
I love your Channel and was wondering if you would ever consider making a Top 10 80's or 90's CRPG list. While your reviews and knowledge of more modern CRPG's is outstanding, your classic CRPG content is either severely lacking or nonexistent. Perhaps an Albion review too? Thanks!
ОтветитьArcanum, FO:NV, FO2, FO1, VtMB, BG2 and PST
ОтветитьSurprised to not see BG2 (is my favorite)
ОтветитьPathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous recently helped me appreciate CRPGs. Thank you for having a CRPG-friendly channel.
ОтветитьDOS2 is amazing
ОтветитьOne thing that amazed me about Wastland 3 is how good the music is. You get that first boss fight and washed in the blood of the lamb starts playing. Hooked me on the game.
ОтветитьMy list:
7. Dragon Age Origins / Mass Effect
6. Shadowrun: Dragonfall / Jagged Alliance 2
5. Fallout - New Vegas / Fallout 1
4. Baldurs Gate Trilogy / The Witcher 3
3. Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy 6
2. Deus Ex 1 / Disco Elysium
1. Planescape: Torment / Star Wars - Kotor
divine divinity is really fun, i enjoyed the big open world
ОтветитьWhat mods are needed to make divine divinity run correctly? I want to play it and it seems to run but maybe I’m missing something everyday else is using that’s useful?
ОтветитьPlease excuse my ignorance: what is the game at the beginning of the video? Thanks!
ОтветитьDisco Elysium has to take the #1 spot for me - it's probably the best written game, let alone CRPG, and there's so much detail and reactivity crammed into it's small space. It won't scratch the itch for CRPG combat if that's what you're looking for, but I think it's a better game for it. Honestly, I bounce off of a lot of RPGs because combat is usually the weakest part to me, and it can be a slog to get through.
D:OS2 comes next, I love everything about the game. Just seeing all the ways to escape Fort Joy during Early Access was enough to get me hooked - the paths are tailor made, but it felt like the game was inviting me to break it and outsmart it. You're allowed to problem-solve and do weird things as you come to understand the game systems, like it's an immersive sim wearing the skin of a CRPG.
Wasteland 3 got me into these games
ОтветитьDamn no Fallout 1/2?
ОтветитьReally surprised Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous isn't on the list at all. I would put that one above Kingmaker.
ОтветитьHi, which one would you recommend for beginners?
ОтветитьYour reasoning for liking wasteland 3 is very odd to me.
The only other postapo rpgs i know are atom, fallout and underrail all of them are pretty extensive on rebuilding civilization with fallout having pretty big countries even.
Also tyranny needs a dlc that finishes the story! unless you side with the bad guy the story... stops instead of being finished. loved the shit otta that game, too!
PoE i bounced of so hard. the combats been by far the worst i've ever experienced in crpg and - at least for me - it was SO bad i couldnt finish the game.
With the amount of pausing this game requires in combat they'd be better off just going turn mode (or superior in every regard owlcat's pathfinder approach with easily switchable turn/rt mode)
i got tyranny for free on epic and never touched it :/
ОтветитьSurprised you picked kingmaker over wrath of the righteous, wotr is pretty epic! Of those games I would probably put Pillars of Eternity 2 as my #1. The multiclassing and turn based option just really added so much to the already great world! Good choices though, I haven't played Wasteland 3 yet but I liked Wasteland 2. I think ME3 would probably be my all time number one RPG, with ME2 a close second
ОтветитьDeadfire rules so hard, it's absolutely CRIMINAL just how underrated it is!
ОтветитьWeird west, tides of numenera, wasteland 3, mutant year zero road to eden, poe 2 deadfire. And waiting for dark envoy
ОтветитьTop 3:
Disco Elysium
Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Underrail
Gonna play Tyranny next and then either PoE2 or Divinty 2.
worse thing for me is i like CPGs all but one part and that is they don't have respawning or random encounters leading to a rather dead feeling world and limited EXP so you can never level some more or try to improve loot if maybe you are having issues in a hard battle your only able to retry the battle over and over. Yes i know to some CRPGs are better without the option to get more exp/loot but for me it feels annoying one of the reasons i could never really get into DOS 2 it's clearly a well made game but it locks you into levels and loot by doing this and that always kind of bugged me maybe i want to go hunting for monsters to get that next level....not that it matters no real new CRPGs let you do that anymore but my favrate CRPG was balders gate for this reason it let you find for exp for that next level without making you do plot if you don't want to.
ОтветитьNeverwinter nights with expansion hordes of the underdark is the number one for me by far
ОтветитьI'd have to say my favorites are:
1) Battletech
2) Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
3) Pillars of Eternity 2
4) XCom 2
5) Wasteland 3
6) Pathfinder: Kingmaker
7) Baldur's Gate 2
Tried Tyrrany and pretty much every Divinity title currently on Steam, but couldn't get into them.
Divinity Original Sin 2 and 1 are absolute masterpieces these two games are what made me love Those style of games then I went back played Baldurs gate 1 and 2 then planescape torment also Icewindale along with pillars of eternity 1 and 2 so yeah definitely I fell in love with the "CRPG" Genre if you will
Also Baldurs gate 3 mhm god damn will be utterly fantastic why cause Larian studios is making it
DoS2 is also my favourite CRPG ever. Especially with overhaun mods like Divinity Conflux.
ОтветитьPlease put the name of the game on the video, it would be helpful for the watcher
ОтветитьOMG When he mentioned Lucian and dos 2 in the same video i started having friggen ptsd flash backs of THAT BS LUCIAN BOSS FIGHT OH MY GOD AAAAAAAHHHHH
The only reason I beat that fight was because my character literally sold not only his soul but also his companions lives to the devil 😈 the only other way you’ll ever finish this games final boss fight except using op as shite modded armor and weapons or just being an absolute GOD at the game is to make a deal with the literal devil if it wasn’t for that and the bs impossible speech checks in the last chapter i would absolutely adore this game but it was absolutely ruined by this bs fight
Spent all that time getting attached to my party members fane beast and my romance choice sebile only to be forced to murder them at the end of the game
Very interesting. Why not TOP 10? Maybe it's just me, but I feel like you wanted to include more games in this list. You were having a hard time deciding which one you like more, Pathfinder WotR or Divinity OS2, but only Divinity is here
ОтветитьMan I need to finish some of the crpgs in my backlog. Working through Pathfinder Kingmaker atm. Still got Pillars and Pillars 2 plus Divinity Original Sin 2 waiting. Bought a bunch of them a while back, but never started them as I got sucked away by other games.
ОтветитьIt's nice to see people praising Tyranny in the comments. It's release went under my radar which makes me appreciate this channel for covering games past the height of their relevancy.
Ответить
