So... you could pay double the price of a sata ssd to get an m2 and save like 0-5 seconds on loading screens.

this system has a massive I/O problem. If your M.2 drive is "about as fast" as your SATA (!) SSD you're bottlenecked by something. Most likely the CPU or even the mainboard. M.2 drives are several times faster, on average - but only if your system has no real bottlenecks. Get a new computer, my dude. You need real CPU power for M.2 - a tiny quadcore from 2011 simply wont do.

These games don't use the direct storage yet. You need to test games with this feature. Everything else makes little sense.

Want to know something cool about Fallout 4? The load time is limited by the framerate, which is capped at 60 because the physics are also tied to it. There's a mod that improves load times by up to 500%, and literally all it does is raise the frame cap to 350 during loading screens.

Just a fair point to make here. A SSHD will only be faster for data you regularly load. So installing and running a game a few times is going to be as slow as on a standard HDD. But after several loads the drives controller starts to load the files on the small cache it has. Normally you'll see your OS here as it's loaded every time you boot. If the game is small enough and used often enough load times will nearly match a SATA SSD. I have a laptop with a SSHD and some of the games I play load almost instantly. While larger games I rarely play take forever (as it's a 4200 RPM drive).

I am totally okay with slow loading screens guys. This is a war, this is just marketing. They are just giving us more reasons to buy and lose money. I'll just stick with my SSD (Since Windows 10 breaks every HDD I had lol)

For you wondering why SATA SSD is the similar to nvme SSD:
Is because it’s transferring data from storage to physical memory, then the game will transfer from physical memory (RAM) to GPU memory. It probably does so in smaller chunks (could be sequential, could be random) but it’s not optimized for either. So what you’re experiencing is probably random transfers that the only thing you’ll see from a boost a a drive that’s big on random transfers. I’m going to see if an optane drive will be faster than the NAND flash

The processor could do its processing functions as fast as the hard drive allows it to do them, that's why a good drive is important, remember that processes are files that have to be read and written to the hard drive.
