While Gary Thain in Uriah Heep didn't play much blues (I Won't Mind comes closest I guess) he is my most important inspiration overall (Paradise is so beautiful). When it comes to pure blues I'd say Jack Bruce and Andy Fraser. Underrated is Gary McAvoy, who played with Rory Gallagher for about 20 years.
ОтветитьCool man I’m gonna have to start somewhere, love it as I can’t read music and tab is ok but I think I need to study it more
Thanks from New Zealand ✌️😎👍
Good job! Thanks for relating it directly to certain songs.
ОтветитьSugar Ray and the Bluetones
ОтветитьI like this guy
ОтветитьI have trimmed my fingernails.
ОтветитьHow do you keep your bass so clean and shiny?
ОтветитьThanks, Josh for the lessons. I kind of made a mistake. I was intimidated about moving on from lesson one. However, I finally did. I took your lessons and made my own to practice specific basic skills in your lesson (things like moving from one string to another). But, good news - Today I actually sounded like I was playing music. It was sloppy sounding but it was music. Thanks again!
ОтветитьBrilliant lesson
ОтветитьAwesome lesson. Knowing the major scale, up and down, is so important. Similar concepts come in to play with blue grass music as well. Both genres rely heavily on that bass line.
ОтветитьBig Mamma Thornton... less we forget... Hey Josh, I am taking your course! right smack in the middle of the lessons! Enjoying and learning. I would recommend your course to anyone!!
Ответитьwho inspired me to play the blues? You Bro!!! your videos are awesome!! Cheers From France
ОтветитьThis is absolutely brilliant! I finally get it. Thank you very much!
ОтветитьFrom Crossroads "The blues aint nothing but a good man feeling bad" Thanks for the lesson.
Nobody leave here til they sing the blues
Tommy Shannon is my main man as far as bass players are concerned. Such tasteful walking bass lines. Was a real compliment to SRV.
Ответить"instead of just sitting around stupidly on the same note forever"... also has velvet underground tattoo.
ОтветитьVery intuitive graphical chord helped me alot 🎉🎉🎉 thank you. And also for good video contents.
ОтветитьHey josh I got a question, how do we choose between high and low shape if both are possible?
ОтветитьIf you have a five string bass guitar like I do you can play E flat down pride and joy 😂... five string bass and six string bass guitar alow you to go higher or lower 😀
Ответитьthis guy has single-handedly earned me my spot in a band after playing for only 6 months
ОтветитьI love the bass line in ---In the garden"" sung by Joey Fink
ОтветитьAs a life-long Blues/Rockabilly fan who is currently learning bass this lesson is a dream come true! I've learnt so much in such a short time since discovering this channel. Josh you are an amazing teacher I can't thank you enough.
ОтветитьGotta give Willie Dixon some major creds on blues bass.
ОтветитьSo glad I saw this.
ОтветитьOh Josh, we love you. So knowledgeable
ОтветитьThis is probably really helpful. I love cheesy hacks like this. Im a guitar guy but overall .. cool
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьI started playing the blues in high school (50 years ago.) on an alto sax. I kept playing and still do now. I play Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bari. In my band (Southside Soul Kings) sometimes our bass player is late, so I figured if I could play at least basic bass lines we could at least start the set with me playing bass. So, I'm not new to the blues, but new to the bass. Learning bass clef when I've always ever played treble is the hard part. Even when you are old, it's good to keep learning.
ОтветитьHELP! I've been invited to play in my very first Open Mike Jam and the chosen song is "Don't Lose Your Cool" by Albert Collins. I cannot find any bass tabs or sheet music online. I'm still a beginner (and am on lesson 55 of 109 in B2B right now, but decided to ask the Q here), so how can I prepare myself and really show that I did my homework ahead of time? Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьThank you so much, John.. John, I stink on bass but because of you I’m actually getting better on the bass. I’m actually playing songs. Me playing songs? I love this instrument so much. Thank you so much.
ОтветитьStevie Ray Vauhn is the man who got me into the blues!!
ОтветитьLes claypool got me into blues piano.
ОтветитьThis really is the best bass tuition channel online.
Thanks for making it much easier to get the basics, Josh, it *really * helps 👍
Josh, you are my hero. I'm on Lesson 5 of Module 7 of your "Beginner to Badass"😎 course and I can now play the blues, which was my goal for the whole course! I can hardly wait to find out what other cool things I get to learn.
ОтветитьThe bass line on FUNK 49 by the James gang inspired me to learn bass.
ОтветитьWhere can we get the Jaco T-shirt?
ОтветитьI don't know how I ended up here, neither why I picked my guitar to follow along, but it slaps!!!
ОтветитьMuddy Waters…..
ОтветитьI actually find this video better explain and understandable than videos in my first language 😂
Thank you so much, I am learning a lot from yours videos!
What strings do you use? They look like nylon on the outside
ОтветитьGreat stuff. TYVM
ОтветитьAny student of the bass, needs to listen to as many records as possible, of great jazz, bass players. In bebop jazz , they play walking bass lines that are totally killer. Paul Chambers, Ron Carter, Bob Crenshaw, Milt Hinton, and Neil's Henning orsted Pederson
ОтветитьDude, this just opened up so many songs for me. I'm very new and can't actually play "the song", but I can totally jam along to my favorite music notes, even if it is rudimentary. Thank you!
ОтветитьSRV, buddy guy, BB king, john mayer, led zeppelin
Ответитьwhy no 1 3 5?
ОтветитьWhen do you use the high shape verses the low shape or does it matter???
Ответить
