starting live stream with OBS is not working here with YT. if i prepera a live stream first in YT and then start a live stream with OBS it works. that is very cumbersome. I don't want to have to do that. Is that no longer possible? It used to be a year or so ago that wasn't a problem

We are brand new to OBS live streaming. Our question is: once we create a "persistent stream key" in Facebook live, will we have to input that stream key into OBS every time we want to go live, or can we just set it once and forget it?

FYI if you use earpods Apple has wonderful thought that if you do anything with a microphone they should switch into low-quality phone communication compatibility mode. I was testing some things out and every time I hit the microphone for something it decided to change modes and this wasn't necessarily just for the inbuilt microphones on them. I was listening to a track in a recording app and checking different headphones with the same song that is until I got to the airpods where it's switched into communication mode because it automatically switch the microphone over. It really depends on the app because I was also trying to determine audio latency and the app I was using triggered it no matter what I had to figure out a different way to do it. Oh yeah latency and delay is a thing that Apple decided to solve by delaying the video, that's easy to do with anything that's not real time and Playedback in QuickTime right.

Ok the video is very good, I’ll give that. But the title is misleading because is more of a promotion of the product they sell which is a premium product at that. So in the end you will spend probably a 1000 dollars in thee setup, when what you’re really looking for is a quick cheap way to get started, when you don’t even know how to vlog or stream properly.

Good user manual.
Only bluetooth headphones (earphones) have a huge latency - about 1 second. It can be compensated for in OBS for a stream, but for a game and monitorihg yourself it is horror. The exception may be the aptX Low Latency bluetooth protocol. Even it has a latency of 40-80 ms. But this protocol is rare on computers. If you want wireless headphones, you can use the in-ear monitors for the scene.

The canon webcam utility beta is out for Mac now but it’s very limited. Works fine in OBS but it’s not super user friendly yet or useful. There’s another plugin you can get called cascade(?) webcam and it unlocks a lot of the features canon hasn’t released yet while using the webcam utility, but it’s not free and canon will probably eventually release full support.

Update on DSLR webcam software. Canon now has the utility for Mac as well and Panasonic has one for windows using the GH5. All of them are in Beta but seem to work alright.

Great video BTW. With the price of webcams and all the COVID stuff I’ve been helping clients a bunch with live streaming. I saw that $30 hdmi capture pop up on amazon about a month ago and definitely want to test it out to see if it’s any good. Currently I have an ATEM Mini and ATEM Mini Pro along with some other HDMI capture devices that I have been using for different projects. It’s in super high demand right now so an ultra cheap alternative for some of my clients would be awesome.
