Who else is here because they admire the Pajero's rugged capabilities?

It was better without all of the pretentious refinements that belong on a luxury BMW, Mercedes or Audi sedan.

Even before, this is my dream car. Even they already stop it's production, I will still consider buying a used one now that I can afford to have it. Legend will always be a legend.

Just gonna put it out here. I've grown up around Pajero's, got one myself now. All were 2nd or 3rd users but really, it never breaks a sweat. Currently my dad and I both drive one, both 15 years old at this stage. I'd argue that even though it lacks a lot of modern techs, you don't really need those and all they can do is break down. It's simplicity also helps with reliability. It can also go places most modern day "SUV's" can't go anymore, and it outperforms most of them when really put to the test. Numbers don't always mean anything, but it's legacy and name speaks for itselfs

An addendum to earlier comments, re latest safety features missing, in rural areas where pothole avoidance is a common issue the lane guidance feature on many new vehicles is just dangerous , add a heavy trailer and it is worse, My sons Isuzu D Max is having a button fitted under warranty to switch the system off, the menu driven switch off is frustrating and must be done every time the vehicle is started, the autonomous braking is also potentially dangerous, recently a crow feeding on road kill ran across our path activating the feature at some speed causing a following vehicle to just avoid rear ending us.
The features are not perfect and no replacement for good judgement and driving skills/ experience!

My 2005 3.2 auto GLX has over 300k on the clock and has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned and I have owned a lot of vehicles, build quality is superb, the 3.2 serviced correctly is a very reliable and torquey engine albeit a little noisier in early models, more soundproofing added in later series, very economical for size and the Aisan based Mitsibishi super select auto system is brilliant.
The knockers are nearly always those who haven't owned one.
No turbo lag off mark, good spread of torque, comfortable seating with excellent vision the Pajero has often been underrated and overlooked by those hooked on the Landcruiser and Patrol hype, (I have owned 79, 80 and 100 series cruisers and have a GU Patrol utility amongst other 4WD vehicles on our farm property) also the Paj is a much more reliable vehicle than any Landrover product, although lacking the wheel travel of the aforementioned, a 2 inch lift, locked centre differential and locked rear diff on later models the Pajero will go to just as many places as the others however has very good road manners and does indeed tow well with suspension mods (Old Man Emu 2 " lift and slightly heavier rear coils in my vehicle).
I came upon my Pajero by accident when looking to purchase an HJDR 100 turbo diesel, the LC were very ridiculously overpriced and a local dealer had a very low mileage Pajero for sale at a reasonable price, I was nah, not interested, however hve suggested "just take it for a spin" nothing lost in a test drive" I was pleasantly surprised and have not regretted the purchase over 13 years ago, I also own a late model utility but somehow for a long haul comfortable drive Or the 100 km round trip shop I find the Pajero still comfortable, economical and above all reliable!

I own a 2017 NX GLS that I bought new - Didn't realise at the time I would own what would be the swan song of this icon. I have had nothing but positive things to say, having taken it for long xcountry drives incl Sydney to Great Ocean Rd and back and having recently updated the tires to BFG TAs. Definitely won't be selling it as Im hoping it might become a collectible classic 🤞

Sad to see the Pajero going, it's a true 4x4 with part time 4wd, solid reliability and not cluttered with non essential junk. My MK2 is 29 years old and does a days work for still. |I was designed to get you from A to B and BACK, not as a fashion statement.

The Mitsubishi Type 73 Light Truck (Shin) which is exclusively manufactured for the Japan Self Defense Force since 1996 is based on the 2nd gen Pajero. So technically the Pajero is still in production in Japan, but probably if you are lucky enough you might be able to obtain one from JSDF as long as it has been retired after 25 years of use and hasn't been scrapped by then.

Had NT diesel base model for 6years done several off road trips in Australia and has shown to be capable off-road aswell as a comfortable daily driver.I value reliability rather than the latest tech when I'm in remote areas.Regular servicing with quality products and a decent mechanic so far has resulted in no mechanical issues since ownership.

It's a pity Mitsubishi killed many of their iconic cars Galant, Pajero, Evo. Since their tie up with Nissan let's hope it does not bring Nissansrather skeptical reliability. Mitsubishis were reliable.

I miss pajero so much
He is my uncle to me
When the times me, Pajero sport, Everest and him hunt down those Druids/ Zealots performing satanic sacrifice in Irelands
He taught us how to knock them out with diesel fumes. The Village thanked us for saving them from satanic panic. I will miss him.

''Jeep'' ''Pajero'' thsee are some iconic words in the world of 4by4. In my country people called road vehicles as ''Pajero'' when I was young. Now Prado is taken the hot seat. Sadly they could not match the pace of others development

I still drive a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero today and to my surprise it doesn't give any major trouble. 20 years and still going strong. Well, when I have enough money for a new one I'll still stick with Mitsubishi Pajero. God bless it's makers :)

I don't see anything wrong with that car in 2021. All the features that it "lacks" are the features that every car journalist turns off immediately in new cars now.
This car is not perfect but good enough.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This car is like kobe bryant. For those who are basketball heads it mimicks his career below average efficiency rating by being unrefined or truckish when it comes to nvh levels, at least for the diesel. And just like bryant at age 25, when the third generation pajero came out at the start of this century it was once within the top 5 of its class. Sadly the gen 4 model didn't differentiate it that much to set the bar higher, something that could have made it on par with the other luxurious 4x4s. Just like mamba in his subsequent seasons without shaq. Lastly, bryant has ceased living anymore (although tragically) since last year and it's somewhat a coincidence that the same thing is happening with the pajero right now. But you guys know what? No matter what their shortcomings are (bryant's inefficiency and the pajero's unrefinement and age) people will always recognize them for their own greatness, even if they aren't one of the best/greatest all-time anymore nowadays. Hardworking and dependability applies to them respectively, although time has shown us that there will be others who would surpass them as it goes by.
