Are you going to buy a 2022 iPhone SE? Or something else?

I personally love the design with the classic home button.I hate the notch on the other iPhone. Probably I can live with the dynamic island. But the price for these phones is way to high. I guess the next iPhone SE in 2024 or 2025 will come with the design of the iPhone 13 mini.

The SE 3 is now the only new option for us 10% who can’t use OLED due to PWM!

The design is irrelevant here. Yes, it’s old. So what? It’s an incredibly powerful phone for the price that Carries the benefit of 5-6 years of support to come. I owned the se2 and really liked Touch ID. I still wish I had it at times. It was also comfortably pocketable. I had to upgrade recently.. camera and battery were shot. Would have bought an se3 or 13mini but was offered a mint 13 pro for about the same price. It’s great but I miss my smaller phones! Hell I’d still use my se1 if I could! Not everyone obsesses over bezel ratios and the like.

the reason they don’t do the fullscreen for SE is because a lot of people do NOT want the fullscreen and larger size of most modern phones.

I always end up with an SE when my iPhone pro max model breaks! As the trade in value usually gets me a straight swap for an SE versus the repair costs of fixing a pro max which is over £500 + etc it’s a no brainer really

I have to laugh with the preoccupation of folks about the colors and exterior shapes of cell phones in general. All i care about is the screen size, overall size of phone..smaller is better, and the internal technology of the various products which are available. Guess i dont use my cell phone...the old SE 2016....enough, but i put the phone in my pocket so the smaller the better.

Does it have 5G? Yeah
Does it have an updated chip? Yeah
Can I stream movies in HD? Yeah
Does it record in 4K? Yeah
Then that’s all i need.

Who is the target market for the iPhone SE?
1. Users that have been holding on to their iPhone 6, 7, and 8 for many years. The form factor is exactly the same, and when it's time to upgrade, not only are they spending less money on a new phone with the latest processor, their muscle memory is still intact -- no need to learn the new ways of navigating to a form factor that doesn't have a home key, etc.

2. No need to buy new accessories -- the accessories for the 6, 7 and 8 (example: case) will still work with the SE.

3. Security -- lots of iPhone users miss Touch ID and feel more comfortable with a physical finger print reader over Face ID. Unless Apple designs a fingerprint reader into the power key as they do on their iPad Airs, or how Samsung did that with the Galaxy S10e, currently, the SE is the best bang for the money.

4. Great entry level iPhone. As an Android user, I wouldn't want to spend thousands of dollars to buy an iPhone so I can learn and be more acquainted with iOS. I'd rather spend on an inexpensive iPhone, weather it is the most recent SE, or even a used iPhone 8, which is still getting software upgrades.

Got her product red with the red silicone case and it looks so delish and works soooooo well for her! She loves it and I personally love it too and see myself casually using her phone while my pro max sits on the side with judgy eyes! 😂

You obviously don't remember Apples slogan "Think Different"? Its not a tired old design. Its called "retro", and millions of people like this design. Everything is subjective and when tech reviewers show their biases, it makes for a less reliable review, because youre not getting the truth. This vid seems like your attempt to sell other phones and not an iPhone SE review.

Sick and tired of the current generation of jumbo phones. Wearing a belt isn't enough, have to use suspenders too if I want to carry a phone in my pants pocket. My little baby hands struggle to use my smartphone one handed. Neither do want to spend a $1000 for a phone. Are there any other inexpensive small phone options?

Hi Mark i would say No its not worth it when you can buy an iPhone SE 2020 model for £180 , the new one only has a slightly faster CPU and 5G but lets be honest 5G wont be rolled out in the UK for probably a few more years and if i wanted a 5G phone i can buy a bran new Galaxy A53 for £250 which is a much better phone for media content too

Just bought SE3 to my mother, she couldn’t be happier with the “same but better” phone then her trusty iPhone 7. And this phone is exactly for such people who like to be in iOS ecosystem, but are basic smartphone user with calling / texting and occasional browsing. One additional point was that I was thinking to hand over my old X but didn’t want to go thru learning curve with the gestures, swiping etc all over again. So maybe it is a dated design, but for some people (most of people) , familiar and better is gold struck.

I'd love iphone SE to get rid of print finger, to be precise to get rig of that space and become a bit smaller. I got sick of shovel phones, WHEN WILL THIS COMPLETE STUPID ERA END?

I went over to ios with the SE3 for the following reasons: I use my phone for text and calls as well as listening to music. My old android was running out of memory and after 5 years was getting juddery . I did not need the aggravation of learning new gestures and it buttery smooth, with good battery life of 60 per cent by the end of the day. That are real word figures when taking calls, listening to music and checking social media. I went from having 16 gig of memory on my Nokia (and having to delete apps when essential apps would not download due to lack of memory) to having 104 gig left on the iPhone after loading apps and adding 400 songs on I tunes! It is a pocket rocket!

I cannot use OLED iPhones due to PWM sensitivity so can only go LCD. I'm bored of my aged and very glitchy/buggy 7 Plus and I'm not a fan of the thick XR and 11. SE 2022 maybe the only choice but would love a standard 13.

Hi Mark. I am so grateful that Apple have kept the SE. My 82 yo mother has my original SE. I need to replace it soon. She knows how to use the home button. Her hearing aids work through the phone. She loves the camera. She's uses the features. I was dreading having to teach her how to use the newer versions of the phone. Not that she can't learn but I want to spare her the anxiety of not knowing or remembering how to do something on her phone. The same goes for my mentally disabled brother. Muscle memory is so important.

Great video as always Mark, soooo many better options at this price point as you’ve rightly said and I would also give honourable mentions to the poco x3 pro & red magic 6r too!
The only reason is ecosystem and as always if you can detach yourself from iOS (which apple make it very hard to do in some ways), you’re always gonna get much more bang for ya buck!

Used to use an older Samsung A20 for a bit but I hated it. It was so tall and big so you couldn't type comfortably one-handed and was so hard to fit in a pocket plus even as a techie, I didn't like Android or Samsung's version of it with the double stock + Samsung apps. The UI was awkward to use even with customisation, I couldn't replicate the Apple UI easily (or something I liked) and the Settings menu was confusing.

Loved switching to the SE2, the only downside is the bezels/screen size and the battery life but it was a great phone and for non-techies, they love it and the home button is a great feature since they find it hard to understand/use the gesture system. Now upgraded to the iPhone 13 Mini which I love. An amazing screen, still fits in a pocket and awesome battery life. Completely agree with your thoughts, Mark re: the Mini. Hope they either update the SE ala Mini or keep the Mini for iPhone 14.

My biggest complaint is that this wasn’t the size of the iPhone 8+. Having an SE+ or SE Max would be ideal. My 75 year old mom still has her 7+ and loves it. But the phone is dying and will likely be not supported pretty soon.

If there was an SE Max, it would be perfect for her, and my sister. A cheaper phone that still uses Touch ID. I’ve shown my mom Face ID and swipe actions. She seems skeptical about the change, lol.
