Regarding AWS and prior experience, if you are not "computer-savvy" or do not have a basic to intermediate understanding of servers or computer networking, etc. then shoot to pass the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam first (alongside Python of course). This certification is largely fundamentals of cloud computing and will help a lot as a prerequisite to an associate level cert.
ОтветитьThank you for the advice ! Do you think it's still relevent for 2023-2024 ?
ОтветитьThanks a lot @travisMedia
ОтветитьIs this still relevant in 2023? I'm taking an online bootcamp. Just finished css and html. Supposed to go into JavaScript. Should I hold off on Javascript and follow the advice of this video? Or go forward with learning JS?
ОтветитьThis is gonna be my way out I swear to God it will
ОтветитьYou have given me encouragement to keep going. Thank you!
ОтветитьHi Travis, Thank you for your videos and time. I am currently an admin staff and planing to change career. Trying to get into any sorts of IT domain asap. I live in Austrlia where most of the cloud job (Gov department ) on Azure. Is it useable/logical if I learn Azure and Python, instead AWS and Python ? Any advise on this or getting a job would be highly appreciated.
ОтветитьDoes this advice still apply to late 2023?
ОтветитьThank you so much for your work and advice.
ОтветитьHi, thank you for your video. I was tired of web dev ( js related). While I was learning JavaScript such as node react js, I have also been working on data structure and algorithms in python.
I was about to ask you if I should focus on python (Django) and DSA since it’s efficient to study and get better at one language.
I was learning web dev bc so many jobs for entry, however, I will focus on aws and python!!!!
Thank you
ОтветитьI hate my job and I'm so miserable working in the labs at the NHS. I feel very attracted to programming and learning how to code. I feel like my skills and creativity could be used well. I also think I could use these skills to help me with my Synthwave Guitar work. I'm so excited for this.
I'd love to learn Python and AWS as mentioned. Web development seems exciting too. I'm a lot more excited about all this than my current drone mind-numbing un- fulfilling stressful thankless job.
im 32 right now. I work as an accountant. thanks for the encouragement. the path you suggested seems really doable. Im all in.
ОтветитьInspiring, I have decided today to change my career
Ответитьi am planning to hit Mobile app development ,, do you thing it has a bright future ?
ОтветитьHello @TravisMedia, Thanks for your advice, At the moment I have a large experience as software developer but I want to switch to devops and architech. I have knowledge in cloud, docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD as developer of course. Which one you suggest to start, solution architect associate or developer associate certification? Or is irrelevant which one come first? Thanks again for share your knowledge :)
ОтветитьHey! would you change or add nything for 2023?
ОтветитьIm 25, went to college but never graduated.😁 I'm learning python on my free time and know this is my future just a matter of discipline and time. Im glad I stumbled across your video.
ОтветитьHey Travis. Some really great advice. Thank you. Do you have a discord channel?
ОтветитьTravis can a complete beginner do the AWS route?
ОтветитьI would go for aws & react-native
ОтветитьI am looking for a career change into IT and initially I found this video very compelling but then discovered AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon which throws up many ethical issues for me personally. It is not just me; authoritative sources such as Ethical Consumer clearly rate Amazon negatively. Has anybody else felt conflicted about AWS and how did you resolve this? BTW I am not judging anybody :) Any thoughts welcome.
ОтветитьI wish if I saw video before
ОтветитьHi, thanks for your wise advice. I’m having the same thought of web developer field is now saturated. I’m interested in being a dev ops. I just wandering if this route open a free lance opportunity on Upwork for me like what you did with your front-end. Because I still need money while trying to learn to shift my career
ОтветитьCan I text you on any social media????
ОтветитьAny video on how to become freelance programmer will be greatly appreciated
ОтветитьLol Travis you were talking to me there. I'm turning 28 in June '23 and I'm already balls deep into HTML, CSS, & JS. Took the WordPress route as well. Done a couple verified jobs on Upwork for clients as freelance. Now I want to switch careers to Software Engineering.
ОтветитьHello. Great video. Is this still Worth in 2023? Thanks!!
ОтветитьHey, can someone go from working in QA to a software developer
ОтветитьYes looking to change my career
ОтветитьGreat vid!
ОтветитьHey, interesting video! I'm 31 years old and took a little over a decade to finally finish college. I am a CNC Machinist and I make decent money but I'm coming to realize my calling isn't where I thought it was and I should pursue my original passion which is anything related to computers. I took CS in school and learned some Java. I've always messed with websites and little coding projects, I finally decided I'm going to give it a go. Progress will be slower since I work 45+ hours a week, but I'll get there. I've been torn between something Data Related (data analytics), web dev (front end, eventually working to full-stack), or Python. Your approach here seems interesting and makes sense intrinsically to me in a way. I can study python and use it for personal projects and pair it with AWS for a possible career move. Subbed
ОтветитьGreat video! I'm in RealEstate but I understand the importance of tech. I just don't have 5 years to sit in class. I noticed tech jobs are all I see, and I'm curious why that is? Are there really just not enough people in Tech or is it a high turnover industry?
ОтветитьThis is so motivating. How do I contact you ?
ОтветитьI have worked in the Medical industry for the past 10 years and i am not getting anywhere I want this career change so bad!! where to begin? I went to codecademy and it was alright i guess.. bootcamps are expensive.. I am so glad i found you and the awesome advise you have. Thank you
Ответитьdo you have a slack or discord for your followers to communicate and share information?
ОтветитьThanks man, m 34 just started learning python few weeks back, loving it Bt was thinking abt wht next. Now m clear again why I choosed Python n cloud of course. Thanks for your motivation man. ❤
ОтветитьHi Travis! I am on the webdev route taking CS50 course first to have soliv CS concepts. I was thinking about this same exact path before going through the webdev route mainly because nobody tried that with no degree and no IT experience and tons of people said that no one would hire junior devops with no it background and no way to demonstrate their skill appart from certs which dont matter in interviews. My question is how do you convince an employer to hire you as a self taught devops or cloud engineer since you cant have a portfolio like on the webdev path? How's it possible to actually show work that you can build to be able to convince somebody?
ОтветитьI am on this journey.
Around 3 months ago, I started with 100 days of code in Python and I am on day33 almost at 50% of the course.
It is the best course you can ever find for sure and I am a bit confident with coding in Python now.
I will soon start on AWS journey and see where this leads me to.
Wow this info is gold. I started learning python from Angela 2 months ago and just came across your channel today. Thank you so much for the advise Travis 🙏
ОтветитьHey, thank you for this video. Im switching carrers and starting a post grad in software engineering and this video helped me a lot!
ОтветитьI stumbled upon this video by chance and I'm so glad I did! The message and creativity behind this work are truly inspiring. It's amazing to see how talented creators like Travis can use their platform to spread positive vibes and make a difference. This video has definitely brightened my day and I can't wait to see what other awesome content you come up with in the future!
Ответитьthis has saved my life. coming from a business strategy background, yet in love with tech, I have always been put off learning any programming language because my strategy brain could not grasp why learn all these languages? What is the strategic position for opportunity in the future if I just keep swallowing up every language. So I tried HTML. I dumped it. I tried Cybersecurity. I dumped it. I tried Data analysis. The many things to learn just tore me apart. Honestly, for the first time, I feel like a new born with so much energy to start life afresh along this path you have shown. Now at 38, I am inspired by your story and strategic advice. I am rushing ahead to follow you on LinkedIn and others
ОтветитьI just buy the course of python now. Thanks for recommendation.
ОтветитьI'm 24 and severely doubting my decision to go into an urban planning degree. The money won't be as good, nor will the potential progression. I also feel like I will be unsatisfied in the job. I'm considering switching to computer science and making my way into IT (with the aim of software engineering). This helped as I'm going to have to start practicing programming soon. Thank you!
ОтветитьI am starting over in my 50's. I was in manufacturing as a welder and manager for most of my life. I was injured for the 3rd time of my life and decided that was enough. 6 months into learning programming, it's going well, just looking forward to a company to take that chance on me haha
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьI’m a business graduate currently in baking industry…I wanna change my career to Software engineering but have no basics…Is it possible to switch from banking to IT ? I’m 25 currently
ОтветитьThanks
