1st inmate in South Carolina executed by firing squad in modern history

This guy killed her parents with blunt force trauma. Two people. I can only imagine how many hits that would have taken. Maybe it’s because firing squad is such a jarring word, but he literally had three guns and all went off at once, so he received essentially one big lethal hit. He got off much easier than what he did to his victims.

Execution is never an appropriate outcome of prosecution in the moden age. Not only is it MORE expensive to carry out than a life sentence (due to the series of automatic appeals which everyone receives, plus the decades of incarceration until those appeals are exhausted), but such a sentence precludes even the possibility of change and growth in the convicted. It also denies society the benefit of their valuable labour, whether as a free citizen or while incarcerated.

I know what he did was evil and brutal. But so is this form of the death penalty it's barbaric. i know it was also barbaric what he did but.i just see it as inhuman.

Besides….this is a topic about style of execution and it makes sense that death by firing squad is less risky from a failure standpoint.
