Amazed the PSA KS-47 did not even get an honorable mention, I've had mine for a month now with about 300 rounds through it and I find it hard to beat for the price. Light, accurate, with controllable recoil and surprisingly reliable, it has taken top slot over my heavily modernized MAK-90 and my equally awesome (yet quite heavy)PTR32 KFR, of which both are solid and useful rifles.

The SA VZ58 was my service weapon and is still in my safe. For me, it is one step higher than AK in the top 5 list. But definitely not at the top

Looks like you are missing the cadillac of AK's, the Valmet m76 with milled receiver. I know Valmet's are quite rare in US but they do exist, several models from m62 to m92s

My favorite 7.62x39 rifle is the ruger mini 30 stainless.

I have por eyesight even with corrective lenses and cannot use open sights with a distance of the rear sight. . I need optics red dot or scope. With an an ak scoping or mounting a red dot requires a lot of work.

Thoughts on the gilboa M43? Feel like this gets left out of the conversation. If you’re looking for an AR platform purpose built for the 7.62x39, the gilboa beats the cmmg imo.

I had a Zastava AK, than a CZ Bren 2 ms than a CMMG Mutant mk47, I liked them all..

only one I have not tried is the Galil Ace.. that may be next

I thought the meridian defense ak-47 would have been #1. 2nd would have been the CMMG MK47, 3rd would be the IWI gen 2, and then the SIG SPEAR 4th. Because of the bolt and the mags.
