Great theory, but if you really wanted to build one, how do you figure out which parts to use? Is there an example with real components I can duplicate?

Definitely a more intuitive, visual way to think about gate logic, but I still don't understand WHY CMOS are used complimentarily. I don't really see the reason as it just seems that it is being pointed out as a pattern rather than a specific reason being given as to why that is the only possible way to design these circuits. Am I missing something here?

there is no Vdd for n-MOS? doesn't it also need a Vdd (=Vsd)?

9 years later and this video still is timeless. I cannot thank you enough for this. I was trying for so long to understand this and just when I thought I had given up I come accross this video and it vanquished all my doubts and uncertainity. Thank you so much!!

Quick question : Why dont we just use either single transistor as a not gate since they give an output that is opposite of input?

There are a couple of often used gates not shown in this video:
XOR, truth-table is 0110. XNOR, truth-table is 1001. Buffers, truth-table 01.
Buffers can be constructed from Not Not.
As this video is very well made, it's a shame that it doesn't contain the above 3 basic gates.
There are also Imply-gates: 0010 and Nimply gates 1101, Maj-gates (3-input) and Min-gates (3-input).
Maj-gates output 0 if two or 3 inputs are zero, they output 1 if two or 3 gates are 1.
Min-gates output 1 if two or 3 inputs are zero, they output 0 if two or 3 gates are 1.
NAND, NOR, AND and OR gates are sometimes seen with 3 inputs (in some cases even 4 inputs).
-But it's a bad idea to go beyond 4 series connections, because you will get unreliable outputs.
It's best to stick with 2 or 3 inputs and then build your logic using small gate modules.
Anyone reading this far will also be interested in how to bulid flip-flops / latches (search the net for D-FlipFlop and you'll find great information).

why do we need both parallel PMOS and series NMOS for NAND? wont any 1 suffice?
