Nat 20 story in the current campaign that I'm in

We walked into a house that had seemed to be robbed and the DM said to us " in the house there are 5 bandits" I (an 11ft Kenkun Monk) immediately say "ROLL FOR SUDDUCTION!!!!" (at this point I had been a better bard than the actual bard since I had a body count of 3 in the first 30 minutes). The DM then said, "You have to roll a nat 20 otherwise you WILL die". I then responded by saying "bet". I then rolled a nat 20 and then proceeded to f*** 4 of the 5 bandits to death as one of my party members killed the 5th. Also sidenote, the house was dark, so I didn't even know what I was f***ing.

I HAVE ONE LIKE THIS

Every time one of our party members tries to rizz an npc, they always roll a nat 20. To keep this tradition alive the last time I tried to rizz up the freaking orc king my DM kept giving me inspiration by the other 7 times someone rolled a nat 20 on a Yeti, Hag, party members homophobic older brother, A GOD, a lich, and a couple things I can’t remember. I finally passed with a 19 plus my bonus. Funniest crap ever.

We were all battling a Lich.

Two members were bloodied and it was clear that we just had a matter of 2-3 turns before wiped.

Out of character; we pulled up a prayer to the dice gods and said it all together in character.

The dice rolled…. Crit

We celebrated like we just won some major sports championship. The Lich was declared bloodied by the DM. We ended up barely surviving that session, but we won.

Mine is from my very first TTRPG campaign ever. PF1e. Kobold only campaign. I was playing a Barbarian (Titan Mauler).
So, a bit before the big Nat 20 moment, my character had found a kobold who was actively bleeding out and dying, and decided this half-dead kobold was his new friend. Our party didn't have any healers, so I just added him to my inventory.
2 sessions later, we encountered the first boss of the campaign: A baby black dragon. Of course, being a kobold only party, our first instinct was to roll Animal Handling. GM refused, saying "It's too hungry to be tamed." so we began throwing our rations to it. The GM refused Animal Handling again, stating "It specifically wants kobold meat."
That's when I remembered I had a (now very dead) kobold in my inventory, so I threw it to the dragon.
GM: siiiigh Roll Animal Handling...
Nat. Fucking. 20. Instantly went from first boss to party mascot.
Unfortunately the campaign fell apart 3 sessions later.

The introduction of my barbarian to my group. They weren't sure who would win in a fight my barbarian or the party archer/rogue. Well my barbarian opened a door and was charmed by a vampire. I rolled a dice to randomly choose my target and it was the rogue. I proceeded to roll my nat 20 and confirming the critial and one shot the rogue ending the debate with one decisive swing of his hammer. I rolled another nat 20 and confirmed against our paladin and left him at 1 hp as well. Needless to say the party made its ajustments to prevent the barbarian from things like that again.

i have an idea for a armor piece for dnd

its a helmet called the time crusader's time manipulation helmet and what it does is it can steal from the past so if u get something like a nat 20 but u only needed 6 u steal the amount u dont need to the now time and adds it to the next roll you do. And u get it by fighting the time crusader who's a necromancer who can only summon 4 enemy's every turn difficult but majorly overpowered however u also get a revival potion upon entering battle with him to get the helmet u have to die use a item called revival potion i be it a team mate forces the potion down ur throat (pause) and then ur back with negative hp (unless it isn't the said boss fight time crusader in which case it just restores ur hp to max plus 1 so 21 out of 20 (21/20)- hp) which u then "Give the negative hp to each of the ghoul's, zombie's, and skeleton's, or whatever to turn them to ur side which u then use them to kill the boss gaining the helmet very very complicated

u most probably should make the boss fight a merchant and to activate his "boss fight" u would hit the merchant DUH anyways make sure its optional duh doi if u make him mandatory they would get the item for free :|

IF UR STILL HERE GIMME A LIKE :D

Not a nat 20, but during my Icewind dale campaign I was playing a Goliath Scribe Wizard and fighting a bunch of Ice Mephits that was taunting me every turn, so, channeling his Goliath heritage, in anger and rage, casts Immolate on that one, single Mephit.

For context, Ice Mephits have 11hp and are weak to fire

Mephit nat 1s the save which by homebrew rules acts like a critical hit against the target

16d6 damage, rolling max damage on 12 of the dice. Total rolled damage to about 80ish damage

Doubled.

Against a creature that has 11hp

The amount of laughter as the DM said I “erase this mephits entire bloodline past, present and future into literal ash”

LOL. I was searching for a place to share the little story from my experience as a player. I was investegating a case with shadow cult as cleric and when I finally came to the end of the case I had to fight an Arch-Demon. Being a cleric I wasn't really able to output much of damage and at one point I fainted. DM rolled some dices and my companions (1 female and 1 male fighters) successfully defeated the demon. So DM told me to roll to prevent the death. I failed 3 rolls in a row(2 of them was 1 LOL). I was given second chance and situation almost repeated itself (1 nat 1 this time). We sat there sat and I got an idea in my mind like "My character is a cleric, right? So maybe god will interfer and revive me or something" DM agreed and I rolled for religion. Nat 20. My guy has met his fucking god and got revived. He was telling it to the others of the team but everyone though he is crazy

So I'm basically a warlock Triton in like the Arctic and Triton can pretty much say anything to something with swimming speed. My friend who just joined as a barbarian was basically a prisoner being walked through the tundra by nulls. And he broke free and all that jazz but I started messing with his character. I managed to use laughter on him and went to the open water. From there I called for help because I'm a toothpick compared to him. The thing is, is that he left and I realized that so I left the water. Only to find myself face to face with a snowy owl bear. I was worried about being eaten alive cause it roared in my face. So I rolled persuasion to say stop to it and got a 20. The dm just said that it suddenly wasn't that hungry anymore.

Me and the party were stuck inside a well after fighting in the sewers. All but one of us were able to climb out. They rolled a nat one and broke their arm instead. So once we got out we sent a rope down so they can tie themselves up so we could pull them up. Our warlock wanted to be the one to pull it. He rolled a nat 20 and he pulled with all his strength. Instead of a calm and stable pull up. Our injured party member literally got fling out and had decent air time before he landed on me and broke my wing. I failed my attempt to evade them. It was hilarious.

So the first nat 20 of the game was when the dm asked us when we were searching for stuff in a cave after we slayed the goblins in it. I rolled a 20, the second player rolled a 20, the last player rolled a (dirty)20.

We were howling.

Anyway the dm was so excited that happened that he gave us op items.

I got a "scroll of protection" I could re-use infinitely.

I tell you that every. single. Time. I used it I rolled a nat 1, making the player I cast it on fall asleep.

So we fight a boss and I make someone sleep again. I get frustrated and say "you know what, all this scroll does is put people to sleep." Dm tells me to roll wis and I roll quite low.

I get an 18 on the boss.
His hp is now double and one of the pcs is still asleep

I burnt the scroll afterward

So I’m a goblin rouge and we had this kolbat rouge who’s character had a deck of many things, the first time he pulled a card his soul got sucked out of his body and he was standing there lifeless (basically dead). My little four foot tall rouge woke up for her shift to watch, saw him and decided she was going to poke him in which I rolled a nat 20.

I then stole all of his experience and the orc barbarian killed him before I butchered and cooked the kolbat :]

This wasn’t a Nat 20 for us but a Nat 1 for The DM

We’re playing Curse of Strahd and we recently leveled up to 6 so we had went to a graveyard and we were at a funeral. Everyone left except two siblings, a priest and our party. Strahd appeared wanting the girl and summoned his minions to attack our party. He had summoned wolves, vampire spawns and zombies. A while later our witch killed a wolf and Strahd attacked her. When he was going to attack again he missed and fell on his ass into of swarm off bats and dissappeared. After we defeated most the enemies we see Strahd appear infront of the Priest asking for the girl. My character who is a bard decided to use Vicious Mockery on Strahd which made disappear due to being embarrassed and damaged-

This was supposed to be a serious fight yet our party made Strahd and his Second in Command look like absolute idiots- The DM was surprised by this and impressed

The hangar of the ship was open and when the hitman died, they said that they wanted to kill him by kicking him outta the ship, making him fall a couple hundred meters. They were also joking about how the hitman was immortal as he had a lot of hp. So I decided to roll a dice for the hitman, deciding if he survives the fall. Nat 20. Personally in my campaingn there was a very funny thing that happened. The mage had a capacity that inverted the strenght and mana stats for one turn. She had 3 strenght and 18 mana. When she used it, she rolled a nat 1, which means when she were BUFF, she holded the dagger so tightly she broke it, rendering the capacity useless.
Then, much later she reused that capacity. What do you know, nat 1 again. This time she didn't want to remake the mistake, so she holded it with precaution. She barely damage the opponent because she holded it too losely.
