This monitor is shaking like jelly every time you move while sitting behind the desk. It would drive me crazy. Never buy plastic monitor with poor stand design. Only all-aluminium.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. We've owned 5 iMacs: Bondi blue G3, Arctic white 24" core 2 duo, 2013 22" and 2019 22" intel i3 . Now am on a 2023 M2 miniMac. I HATE all the wires I've got littering the desk. It would be worse without the Magic Mouse and Touch ID keyboard.

The reason I might buy a Studio Display, even at its absurd price, is that it has 1) great mics, 2) great speakers, 3) good enough webcam, 4) a built-in A13 chip. Hate the price, but it's a beautiful package.

I already had an M1 MacBook Air and was looking at the Mac Mini. It occurred to me I could use the Air in place of the Mini, and so I got a Dell 27” 4K display with a USB hub and all that. I also got a plastic stand to hold the Air vertically behind the display. I have one power cable to the Dell, and one USB C cable between the Dell and the Air. It works so well, and I can just grab the air, unplug one cable and I’m mobile. For speakers I still use my Amazon Echo; not ideal, but it is acceptable.

does mac mini flicker with this monitor? Cause m1 mac minis have this problem, mine is flickering with samsung 32 curved 4k monitor.

I edit and color grade 4K video and I went with M2 pro mac mini and LG ultra fine series monitors, for my main one LG Ergo UN880 32inch P3 DCI gamut monitor and an LG Ultra fine 4K 24MD4KL-B as my 2nd playback monitor and, I'm liking how they match my M1 Macbook Pro, and the colors are very accurate out of the box, and even better post-calibration.

I took the modular solution when the M1 Mac Mini came out. I went for the BenQ PD2700Q as a cheaper alternative.

Due to the so called "Apple Tax," the only Apple products that I can afford are the ones found in the produce aisle—actual apples.

I'm not someone who has ever considered an iMac, but personally I think the all-in-one fad is becoming less relevant with these tiny machines.

i still have the 27 inch iMac & still love it. Im considering a MBP then adding a 27" 4k display...looked at the asus, but the bad reviews on Amazon scared me away...

I'm really tempted by this monitor, but wonder whether I should splash out more for the BenQ SW272C -- also adobe calibrated (I'm mostly a photographer).

If I get the BenQ, I might have better colour, but if I get the PA I'll be able to have a twin monitor setup.

so i looked at your video and thought yeah this is nice ;) and then i start looking at best buy website and found that you can find a decent iMac Pro 2017 with Xeon 18 cores , 4 tb storage and from 32 gig of ram :) between 2500-5000 and moving up top 2017 I5 its differently and upgrade that is still support by apple

I loved my iMac. Then, the hard drive went. I was lucky to be able to salvage my data and bought a new iMac. What a piece of crap. TWO portholes for peripherals!? Can only connect to the internet with WIFI? No DVD player? Does not admit regular cables, HAVE to be Mac's own? I had to get a bus bar to connect all my devices. ALL my back ups in DVDs are useless. Use a memory stick? Only if you have a bus bar, because this piece of shit isn't compatible with the format. I can only imagine how many hackers are ripping off my information every time I connect to the internet, as I'm broadcasting all my connections to the four winds. The worst came when I tried to print. It will not acknowledge my printer. So I have my data, but the only thing I can do is look at it. When someone asks me, I tell them: RUN AWAY FROM MAC. IT'S A RIP OFF.

Okay. I gotta stop you at the $3130 figure you quoted to get up and running with the mini. I've been using the mini since 2010 and upgraded to their current base model and everything is fine. I use an apple metal keyboard (~ $150) with numbering functions on the right, a generic mouse ($20), a 24" dell monitor ($200), all plugged into an external USB hub ($100). There. I just proved that a mac mini can be made up and running with the necessary peripherals for less than $500.

It's time for a 36 inch all in one computer!

I upgraded my 27" iMac 2019 with 64 GB ram and external SSD harddrive. And the new Sonoma OS made it way faster than on the Ventura version. So I am back to a good fast working iMac. I was considering upgrading to a Studio. But this upgrade worked really well, so a new computer will have to wait a couple of years at least.

4K is so 2010. If anyone used the iMac 27" in the last 9 years, there's no way they'll switch to a 4K display, I'd rather stick with the iMac or buy a used one if I can't afford the Studio Display. The only options that should be considered are the Studio Display, LG UltraFine and Samsung Viewfinity S9.

Why not just use Luna display and get am old 27 inch imac..far cheaper option.

I still use my Thunderbolt display for professional work after much more than 10 years. For me, modular is the only way to go.

New viewer, and I love the content. Very fun and creative. For others reading this comment, I will say as an owner of many 4k ASUS pro art displays (27-32") I can say none of them are replacements for the Apple Studio Display for Mac. I am very frustrated that text is soft and fuzzy because of how Apple handles screen scaling. I use the 2021 5K imac and will use until I can buy a display that works as good for Windows AND MacOs. Unfortunately I haven't found anything yet...

BUT M1 and M2 iMacs don't support external GPUs anymore. same for the Macbooks. That's an absolute dealbreaker.

I’m glad on one thing personally, I don’t mind a “dated” design. I care about the performance like 95% then that last 5% is looks maybe and I’d just choose a color if available.

I think the max mini design looks great. And you can’t tell if it’s ancient or brandy new which is cool to me.

As a lifelong iMac user with a MacBook Pro, it's time to update my set up. Thinking of only getting a new MacBook and then buying a monitor and setting up the desk this way. Would love to see a set up video that could address this.

That's what I do. I have a 32" LG monitor and a PC and Mac Mini share that via a switcher.

There are better deals for similar monitors; for example I am very happy with the LG 27UK500-B which nearly matches the specs of that Asus and only costs $200, as does the Z-Edge U27P4K which uses the same panel.

I have a 2020 iMac and I'm very happy with it even more so when I bumped up my RAM up to 128GB.

$2204 and it’ll be worth 500 bucks in a year or two. Apple products retain their value longer and you didn’t account for that when you talked about upgrading.
