Does the A9 allow (or need) a center channel speaker to aid dialogue for hearing impaired users?

Given the hot-a9 is what you have described as the future of home theater. And, given my age (66) I am left thinking that all the technolust for amps, processors, and speakers like the revel, may be over. Can I justify spending 1000s more on a hobby that only has value when buying rather than listening?

Two questions, please? What stands would one recommend for these speakers? Those @7.31 seem to be cool enough. Second one, do these work with ceiling tiles or it requires a somewhat flat ceiling?

I have a Sony TV with just ARC and I have a Sony UBPX800M2 4k player. Can I connect the 4k player to the control box then connect the control box to the TV and still get Dolby Atmos, DTS X etc and the 4k picture?

What's the point if you have to depend on the tv for centre sound. I don't get. Can you connect anther speaker to the centre?

Great review. If you review the A95l, any chance of revisiting the tv as a center channel with the Hta9? The A95l supposedly sounds much better. Thanks.

Great reviews! Watch multiple of your reviews
I’m in the market for a new setup. My heart tells me to buy the Sony HT-A9 (currently on Amazon for $1900 with SW-5) but after watched several reviews it’s pointing me to direction of the Samsung Q990c setup ($1400)
What do you guys suggest?
Most people are saying the A9 has a huge drop out issues.. bummer

Sont have their own LDAC Bluetooth protocol for HiRes. Instead of using that within their ecosystem between devices, they use a scrawny wire. ONLY SONY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

But wait a sec, if the one issue you have with the A9 is getting clear audio out of a center Channel why not compare it with the a7000 with a sub and RS5's since the most recent firmware. I hear several people saying that now this is much closer and in some ways at least referring to Center Channel accuracy better than the A9. Especially now that prices have come down a little, can you confirm this?

@robinsonbrand
Thanks for sharing. I have a question.
I have the new Apple TV 4K, Sony HT A9 Atmos receiver/speakers and Sony A95K OLED TV.
I see a problem with Netflix on ATV 4K.
If I connect my ATV 4K directly to the Sony OLED display, then, the eARC connection to Sony HT A9 receiver, I see Dolby Atmos as audio in Netflix titles [where available].
However, if I connect my ATV 4K to Sony HT A9 receiver using the HDMI in port on A9 receiver, then the HDMI out to Sony OLED, I see only Dolby 5.1 Audio on the same title in Netflix.
This problem is only with Netflix streaming app while I see Atmos audio option in other streaming apps like Apple TV+ and other regional streaming apps in my country.

What/Where do you think the problem is?

i know i'm super late to the party but, is it possible to connect more than 1 of those wireless subs to this system? or more of of those speakers to the system, like instead of the 4 main speakers, you'd have like 5 or 6 or more?

How would this compare to the JBL 1300X in your opinion? Seems like the Sony would win but just wondering how close they are or if JBL even compared to the Sony.

Is anyone bothered by how the smallest devices nowadays seem to connect to too many cables? It's really weird having a bundle of cables go to such a small box and worse even that we have so many small boxes with so many cables. You can't really stack them- you can't really put them next to each other because each each brand has different designs- back in the day you could at least stack multiple devices without worrying too much about looks.. It seems like every manufacturer seems to think that their device should take point in the living room even though none of them really take point in reality because none of them do it "all".

Just for a second imagine having a PS5, this thing, a Philips Hue home hub and the average router/modem in the same room. Can't place them next to each other, can't put them on a closet because of all the cables and tension due to said cables nor can you really make them fit together aesthetically.

This is bad you guys. Nothing Fits, nothing really works together, aesthetically.

So there’s no question as far as the sub, you gotta get the sw5? I just picked up the HT-A9 for $800 refurbished.. we’ll see how well refurbished, but now obviously need the subwoofer…

Side note: I’m coming from having the 990B but really only loving it without the surrounds, to getting the Arc because I thought it must perform better than the Samsung without surrounds (and being sorely disappointed in how short the Arc comes compared to just the Samsung soundbar alone.) now to picking up the A9 in hopes it fills the home theater hole in my heart
