It's got nothing to do with what the Mercedes is going to be or what he Ferrari is going to be. Its about milking as much money out of f1 as possible at the end of your career. He's won plenty. Why risk the chance that russell out races him in 2024 and his stock values drops. Ferrari pays, get that deal done and don't look back

I don’t think he left because he thinks Ferrari has any better chance than Mercedes of producing a winning car. It’s the end of his career. Do you want to look back and think I drove 2 seasons at Ferrari.. and all the lifetime perks that come with that…. Or stay where you’ve been for 10 years already. Might as well go for it. I suspect he will not win an 8th and neither Merc nor Ferrari will be WC in the next couple of years so it’ll be s great experience to do something different.

To me the true icons of F1 were drivers like Graham Hill and a few others in those by gone day's, But coming back to the modern era i think Lewis going to Ferrari and competing against Charles will be a disaster for Ferrari, unless Charles decides to quit and join another team at the end of 2024 which might happen.

The main reason why he is moving is because certain key players at Mercedes and beyond are intent by any means necessary to ensure Michael Schumacher’s 7 titles are not surpassed.

Had Hamilton’s scenario been similar to Jesse Owen’s UNHINDERED victories in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Hamilton would’ve won at least 9 titles by now. ⚖️

I'm not sure I agree with Damon here. I think that Lewis knows that it is increasingly unlikely that he will win another title. I think that this move is a sign of resignation and he is just taking the opportunity to fulfil his final F1 dream of racing for Ferrari.

Does no one listen to Lewis? He low key has said several times that Mercedes does not want his input in the design of the car. Can you imagine how arrogant the design team must be if they don't want the input of one of the top drivers ever in their sport? That's piss poor management and he wants out. Fortunately, he is taking his race engineer with him so the strategy blunders should be a thing of the past for Ferrari.

The lure of Ferrari, a lack in confidence with Mercedes, money, business opportunities, a new challenge, the possibility of an eigth win. IMHOP: money comes and money goes an eigth win lasts forever. All the toys you buy, the businesses and foundations you create will fade over time. Who knows how long the record will last. Who knows who it will inspire. All these supposedly knowledgeable commentators speculating as to "why now"? To the best of my knowledge, Lewis had an option to leave at the end of 2024 and it had a 12 month notice period, so if he was going, he had to give notice now. Simple, no need for speculation as to the timing. The why is another matter, and none of the commentators mentioned that the Mercedes board had refused Lewis's wish to be a 10 year ambassador. Not a great discussion, in my view

Understanding Lewis wanting to win. For Mercedes though, this whole season the narrative will be about Lewis having a better car next year. His performance this coming season will be a no win situation for Mercedes. So much money for a driver that personifies the idea that you are not a winner! This amazes me.
