DIY 2020 iMac upgrades! Is the LAST upgradeable Mac worth it?!

As some folks pointed out, I missed that the microphone holes are on the bottom of the display so I accidentally covered them with the adhesive strips, there's almost always something you're bound to forget about when doing a repair! Use adhesive specifically for a 2019/2020 iMac, or just cut the strips before applying.

why not go with xeon though? Would be cheaper and chould run cooler without the iGPU

Why didn't you insert the intel Core i9 (10910) ("Comet Lake") processor, that is the top of the CPU for this imac, as indicate in mactracker for a imac 27" Retina 5k 2020 (iMac20,1) ??

Hello pls islate 2020 iMac 27" SSD upgradeable ?

If the internal SSD of the 2020 iMac fails, will it brick the iMac? I read that it will for Apple Silicon Macs. I'm thinking of getting a 2020 iMac and booting from an external SSD as a contingency plan when the internal SSD fails.

Title should read partly upgradable because you can not upgrade the soldered on ssd to a higher ssd. This was Apples half idea to keep users from tinkering on their own. Then Apple finally solved this with M1... no more upgrading with iMac m1's...

I bought a 2019 iMac (refurbished) for 1599 in 2020 with a core i5-8500. My only real complaint out of the box was that the fusion drive was just plain slow. Boot up time was... well I would go get a cup of coffee and feed the cats before getting on the computer. Yeah that slow. So now it's 2023 and the Core i9, nvme and sata drive prices have dropped to an affordable price. I think it's time for an upgrade. Thanks for this video.

I have a max out 2020 imac, would be good to know of a mod to solve the crappy cooling system so I can game on it. Water cooling a iMac or installing a better cooling system

Hello Luke Miani! I have iMac 2017 with i5 3.4ghz CPU (gen 7) that is on LGA 1151, however... the 8gen and 9gen intel are based on the same LGA socket (1151). I wonder if you tried to make this kind of upgrade to an iMac 2017. Can you make this happen?

Nothing new. If you want to show us something we dont know, test if you can put more than 128 GB of RAM into it.

Hi, I currently have a 27 inch late 2013 imac with i5 3.2 GHz processor speed. My question is if I change the processor to i7-4771, can i then change to a GTX 780 M 4 gb, or is it part of the original board and not possible to upgrade the video adapter. In my Tech sheet, it says the 3.2 is only available with the GT 755m. it says the 3.4 GHz can be configured to a GTX 780. I want to upgrade, but would like the GTX 780 video.

3414 to 4969 is a 46% improvement for the i7 over the i5. If you would've downgraded it would've been a 31% loss.

I have a 2008 Mac Pro tower in my studio. I just upgraded it a couple of days ago to 32 gig of ram. I’m running High Sierra on it and it works great. I do, however, wish there was a way to put a modern motherboard in it and upgrade it a lot further.

I have a Late 2015 27 5k upgraded with 32 GB ram and 1 TB SSD. Runs just fantastic except crash when sleeping. Anyway. The display is amazing and got inspired of you putting an mini inside. Might do something like that in the future when the CPU is not supported anymore. Great videos, Luke.
