i love this song
ОтветитьThe fact that the repeating voices are children singing
ОтветитьWatching others eat from your work. While you watch them. As they treat you as nothing and everything. Taking back your power. Eat that bloody pomegranate
ОтветитьThis song is my Roman Empire 😊
ОтветитьI'm childfree, no man boss me around, money stable.
ОтветитьShe really came in and dropped the sickest verse of the century out of nowhere just like that.
ОтветитьIt's always the women body men are after they never look into their feelings.😢😢
ОтветитьAmen Persephone
ОтветитьI was sure the food was poisoned
ОтветитьFor those who are commenting on the guy’s appearance, this seems to be from the woman’s perspective. He might be a handsome, hero, and/or a wealthy (gentle)man to an outsider but from his wife’s perspective he’s a man making her do too much labour.
ОтветитьShe sounds like Amy Winehouse anfmd that singer who sing Guts n Glory
ОтветитьYou have such an angelical voice!
I really love it!! ❤
I had a son 4 months ago. I was doing everything his other parent wasnt helping at all. I finally snapped and left. I couldnt do it. I took MY son and left. He will be raised in a house hold where he will know what needs to be done and how to do it. And so much more.
Ответитьwhy only one F Bomb?!
Ответить👁️👄👁️<3
ОтветитьSwap the genders, and my mother was the monster. My father trying to save me from her mindset to this day.
ОтветитьDid anyone notice how she went from saying “if our love died, would that be the worst thing” to “if our love ended, would that be a bad thing”? It sounds like she’s considering the impact to wondering if there would be one at all.
ОтветитьIf this song would have existed in 2010 when I was at the end of my rope with my now ex-husband, it would have been my anthem.
Get out ladies, it isn’t supposed to be this way. You deserve more. You deserve a happy life and there is someone out there who will love and respect you. ❤
That Lady grabbing the pomegranate says soooo much...
ОтветитьHad to play it again her voice and message is so beautiful! ❤️
Ответитьbrilliant in so many ways so awesome
ОтветитьKnowing this generation of girls will be raised up on this song, taught to save themselves instead of looking for a savior, helps to heal my heart with every replay.
ОтветитьMen close ranks when men are accused.
ОтветитьTo every woman who reads this comment - sincerely, dump that man. Every guy is just a guy. Keep your chin up.
ОтветитьLove this song
ОтветитьPoetry.
ОтветитьOne, two, three
Why are you hanging on so tight
To the rope that I'm hanging from?
Off this island, this was an escape plan (this was an escape plan)
Carefully timed it, so let me go
And dive into the waves below
Who tends the orchards? Who fixes up the gables?
Emotional torture from the head of your high table
Who fetches the water from the rocky mountain spring?
And walk back down again to feel your words and their sharp sting
And I'm getting fucking tired
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died, would that be the worst thing?
For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The calloused skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ended, would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
You make me do too much labour
Apologies from my tongue, and never yours
Busy lapping from flowing cup and stabbing with your fork
I know you're a smart man (I know you're a smart man), and weaponise
The false incompetence, it's dominance under a guise
If we had a daughter, I'd watch and could not save her
The emotional torture, from the head of your high table
She'd do what you taught her, she'd meet the same cruel fate
So now I've gotta run, so I can undo this mistake
At least I've gotta try
The capillaries in my eyes are bursting
If our love died, would that be the worst thing?
For somebody I thought was my saviour
You sure make me do a whole lot of labour
The calloused skin on my hands is cracking
If our love ends, would that be a bad thing?
And the silence haunts our bed chamber
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then a virgin, nurse then a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24-7, baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
Nymph then virgin, nurse and a servant
Just an appendage, live to attend him
So that he never lifts a finger
24-7, baby machine
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
It's not an act of love if you make her
You make me do too much labour
All day, every day, therapist, mother, maid
(The capillaries in my eyes are bursting)
Nymph then virgin, nurse and a servant
(If our love died, would that be the worst thing?)
Just an appendage, live to attend him
(For somebody I thought was my saviour)
So that he never lifts a finger
(You sure make me do a whole lot of labour)
24-7, baby machine
(The calloused skin on my hands is crackin')
So he can live out his picket fence dreams
(If our love ends, would that be a bad thing?)
It's not an act of love if you make her
(And the silence haunts our bed chamber)
You make me do too much labour
I don't feel like I do much. Nobodys forcing me to do anything. But I have anger issues.
ОтветитьFeminist Propaganda At It's Finest
ОтветитьSomething I noticed, that upon first glance in the comment section it doesn't seem anyone else has seemed to pick up on it... The fruit that she picked up when she began "disobeying him" was a pomegranate, which in many cultures is considered a symbol of Fertility.
ОтветитьI'm neither married nor a mother. Im still in school but this song just aches my heart. And the imagery of her eating the pomegranate is so beautiful for me. I always associate pomegranates with indulgence and freedom.
Indulgence stems from the fact that after opening the fruit its hard to eat jsut one of two bites. You eat it whole and crave more.
On the other hand freedom is connected to the myth of persephone. Who somewhat freed herself of her spring/flower goddess duties by eating the pomegranate in the underworld
The symbolism of her tearing into the pomegranate after he doesnt let her eat. Literal forbidden fruit.
Ответить6 years and going 😩
ОтветитьBeautiful in each and every way❤❤❤
ОтветитьThe melody is great and all, but the lyrics are simply amazing. This is music.
ОтветитьBest music video ive ever seen.
ОтветитьLabour-work
Labour-birth
I love that her labor negates the fact that men have to die for her to o even make this complaint.
ОтветитьIn my country, men want a virgin that has no sexual desires before marriage, then turns to a porn star for her husband over night -_-
ОтветитьNice voice and I like the lyric "if our love died, would that be the worst thing?" but I really can't relate cause my bf cooks for me all the time and if he didn't I would probably starve to death and die lol
ОтветитьJesus loves you! ❤️ He died to pay for your sins so that you can be forgiven and be free! God will never abandon you, he is always waiting to forgive you, you are never too far away! ❤️ In Christ you will find true healing, peace, security, identity and love! ❤️ Seek God! He is calling out to you!
ОтветитьThis song makes me think of a woman in the wilderness of old America whos been sought out by a local witch who told her to pay attention and look at how horribly she's treated. The woman went away thinking it was all nonsense until she went home that night started to notice. She remembers the witch whispering in her ear “who tends the orchard? Who fixes up the gable?” And she says “yeah…I’m getting fucking tired”. The men in the village say the witch is dangerous. They say she’s full of lies. But the woman thinks to herself, “but she’s not lying. She’s right. What’s dangerous about the truth?” I imagine she just snaps. She goes home and prepares a meal for her husband who eats it without a word of thanks. He criticizes the meat pie. She eats a pomegranate and he feels cold. The color drains from his face as the scarlet juice drips from her lips. The witch has freed her. He blinks and she’s gone; vanished to the wilderness and he is alone, bound eternally to the house he never thought was good enough. And the witches continue dangerously spreading freedom.
ОтветитьAnnemin de bizim icin cok calismak yerine keske babami terk edip okusaydi diyorim.
ОтветитьThis is one heartbreaking song 😢
Ответить99% of all marriages in a song
ОтветитьI really like how there's more ppl singing towards the end, like all the women in the same situation joining in the song
Ответитьto those whom assume that we are here for a time pronounced not; i shall care to caress the sides of your confusion at it's onset, of setting in: that we are here to stay of our keepings steak! and in so doing and saying, cause what you state, is not independent of infedility of what you do!
it's a matter of course that we are in an uprising of superseding precedence also!
tame thy souls keeper, so to u, in essence the keepers, hidden keeper..
^ and in so stating, i, masood mangali, state, in a mandated state, that we are endeavouring in forwards motion as humanity, towards the unfathomable areas of expertise, unprecedented to us
in causational factness, and the checking of actual fact based non-sense, by primarily picking at those whom assume the garb of ' know'!!!
and we state loud and clear, to those no hoe blow dow!
Catchy song! Now get back in the kitchen and make me some pie.
