Pilots for commercial airlines don't make nearly as much as you'd think, a pilot reacting to 'Catch me if you can' said 'that was real good money in the 60's, but they still pay about that much.' 20 years ago I heard Fedex pilots make a lot, probably still true but not a lot of Fedex planes compared to all commercial flights.

I’m working towards becoming an airline pilot. I’m currently at 35 flight hours, and I’ve solo’d. I just have to do more night flying, and get solo cross country time, and I should hopefully get my private pilots license this spring if everything goes according to plan.

Bro you’re an idiot for releasing information to so many people that is flat out incorrect. You do not need a degree to become a pilot. Just looks better. Also you don’t only need a private pilots license 😂 you need that plus your IFR type rating, multi engine type rating, commercial pilots license rating, ATP, then often CFI (certified flight instructor) so you can get paid to build time to around 1500 hours before you can become an airline pilot. All in all with a degree you’re looking at at least 100k in debt and a starting wage around 40-70k per year.

Correction- to become an airline pilot you need more than a ppl - that’s only a first step, then you need to complete another licenses such as, single engine, multi engine, cfi, and so on to get your ATP 😊

Long term, Engineering is the way to go... for the first 10 years it's brutal and low paying however, the salary will dramatically increase after a decade of experience. Engineers are one of the most wealthy individuals in society at retirement due to their good paying jobs and logical thinking.
