How To Connect Microphone To Smartphone

Thank you for the explanations. Is it possible to connect a Rode M3 condenser microphone (built-in 9V power source) to an Android phone with a 3.5mm jack? I have the microphone, an XLR (balanced) to 3.5mm TRS cable, and an adapter from TRS to TRRS. However, it's not working. When I plug in the TRRS plug into the phone, it doesn't recognize that there's an external microphone.

Running the Rode video mic pro, the trrs adapter, and iPhone doggle….other than the cable setup you demonstrated, could there be a setting in the phone I may need to adjust?

Before I commit to yet another purchase, can anyone tell me if an external mic overcomes the heavy compression in my audio?. I can't even record acoustic guitar video without heavily destroyed audio

I got Samsung S20+ and the Rode Videomicro and the Videomic pro+. The Videomicro work very good with the Adapter on this phone. But the Videomic Pro+ dont work with the same adapter on the smartphone. Just sometimes and i dont know why.

Hi, I want to purchase an external microphone for my android phone but would prefer to use a USB type but not sure if it will work My phone is a 3 year old Ulefone 13 P note I know that the charger plug is a C type and that I can transfer data with this connection to my PC does that mean it will work with a USB microphone? Great video. Just bought an xperia 5 iv to go along with my Nokia DSLR, and its great to know that I can share my external mics with the xperia with just a TRRS adaptor as it is one of the few phones that still has a 3.5mm jack

Hi Dee! I'm using the VideoMic Pro Plus with my iPhone 13 Pro. When I test the mic in audio notes, I can see it's connected and working. When I record video now, that sound is being captured through the camera application? For example, if I upload the videos to my computer and start to edit, I will be listening to the Rode mic sound, not the iPhone's audio?

None of this actually was any bit of help like it just made the process a hell of a lot more confusing all I need to know is how to do it I don't need to know about 50 million different chords I don't give a f*** about 50 million different chords I care about the Pacific thing that I have. Wonder how to set it up that's it and I have the cord that I need my phone won't let me set it up. It doesn't show any sign of working so I want to know how to set it up inside of the phone itself maybe the phone itself is not set up for it. My Samsung Note is notorious for not being able to use an external mic. Samsung suggests using their 3.5 to USBc adaptor, but even that doesn't work. I will try the trrs option, as there are entire boards on why this expensive Samsung flagship has codecs that prevent external mics (so "they" say), but they also said Biden won.

Hi there, I have tried rode mic pro+ with type c 3.5 adapter on my pixel 6 pro. The microphone was connected, it was switched ON but when I am trying to record the audio, the video becomes without audio. Any suggestions?!

Atm, the voice of this app cannot be heard on a phone call on the same device. We are currently using two decided which is awkward for me and my son can't get the hang of pairing the two.
Question: would an external mic work for this task (accessing talking app so other person can hear it on a phone call)
