Seven years ago I bought a s**tbox for 450 euros. I've been driving it ever since. 😀 I'll drive it till the wheels fall off.

What if I have 6 months of emergency funds, zero debt but my house and I can afford to put $1400 a month in 401k and still have few hundreds left? Can I buy a new car?

the only reason i'm thinking of getting a new car is I want a gas car before they are banned. I want it to last me for as long as possible before I'm forced to go to nothing but electric.

I walked into a gmc dealership and paid $64,000 cash for my truck and it took them 3 hours and a couple employees to count a few times and get it done. They don’t like cash buyers so bring it in after you say you’ll buy the truck

You freely use the word stupid, so I'll use it: your stupid with most of your advise in this video. First most cats dont go 200k miles esp used ones. Exception is Toyota, lexus, honda. Secondly is never pat cash. That is very stupid. You will get the worst deal doing that. They make the most money on a sale financing, with the interest. After they know your financing then you can negotiate your best deal. If laying cash or check on the spot you will not in fact you'll pay more. They will not negotiate. Put down 20% finance, open up your act online usually one week and then pay off the car in full. The 20% down use a cash back credit card and collect a 2% check on that. Now who's the stupid one??

I sold my 2017 Jeep and purchased a 2008 Chevy Cobalt with 90,000 miles for $5,200.
It’s nothing fancy but gets me from where I need to go no problem and no monthly payment.

Is a used car worth it in comparison to a new one when in this market the cars are over 140,000 miles for $15,000? Seems super overpriced but most of the cars fit this case.

I miss the classic Dave Ramsey episodes. Just Dave, no sidekicks.

Oh just pay cash for everything?! Brilliant idea! Why didn't I think of that?!?! Headed to the dealership right now with all the cash in hand.

My car needs over $2000 in repairs, should I take the money and finance a new car or just fix my car? I do not want to have car payments but I’m worried my car might need more repairs that will end up costing me more than just financing a car. Thank you

Dave doesn’t consider that the first five years on a car are the most reliable years that require the fewest repairs. Dave has never been a single woman stuck in the middle of nowhere because he decided to be cheap in his car purchase!!

I get it but the price of 1-4 yr old used cars today doesn't show a 50-60% decline in value. Even high mileage very expensive. Some used only a few thousand lower than new.

I don't agree with Dave on some things but everything he says about cars is true.

Why would I pay cash if I get an interest rate below 4%? I could invest that initial money elsewhere and have more money in my pocket in the long term.

Except not all newer cars are very reliable. Talk to your local, trusted mechanic and see what make and model he'd recommend that will give you the least problems. They do the fixing. They know what to look for. If they're a good friend , take them along when shopping for a car.
