Ryzen 7000 Motherboards – B650, X670, B650E, & X670E Compared

Hey guys, I’m about to build my first PC for work. I’m planning to use the Ryzen 9 7950X with a B650 motherboard since the price of X670 is quite high in my country. Are there any risks or limitations with this setup? (If possible, could you recommend some B650 models?) Thanks for your advice!

ASRock is heads and shoulders above the rest right now. There's no reason to buy anything else.

For my build I was planning to go for the b650 tomahawk but somebody recommended the x670 tomahawk and I was confused to why since it was more expensive . Yeah I might not need the x670 , even though I want to look into over clocking

I know this vid is a year old, but now is the time to buy a MB with PCIe 5 for GPU and M.2. The prices of the MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK are awesome, we get all the features and future slots for the upcoming RTX GPUS.

My humble advice is to buy a High end AM4 mobo over a POS but overpriced AM5 mobo!

DDR5 and Pcie 5.0 is Hype Bullshit money grab....AM4 is more than powerful! AM4 will last another 10+ years..

problem is am5 mobos are so expensive even budget types.

I bought the Tomahawk 650 and looking for reviews everyone else was was to techy like I would know everything thx for making it simple 😢

I have the Asrock b650e pg riptide wifi and so far it's really awesome

I have the Asrock Riptide Wifi and haven't had any issues. I'm running a 7900xtx and 7800x3d so maybe I should have gone with a higher end board but eh it works.

I should have gone with the MSI board instead of the gigabyte arous elite AX 😣😭😭😣

Ok so I have an Xbox Series X and I'm looking to switch over to PC and also have my gaming at pretty much 4k 60fps and actually have an upgrade from the Xbox. I thi k I'm going with the Ryzen 7800X3D and want a good motherboard that's also a little future proof. Any ideas. The graphics card a saw that seems good is the Radeon RX 7900XTX which is a bit pricey but I don't want it to be out classed in a year or 2

ALL reviews on ALL motherboards have the same big fail. They do not show the number of lanes available on any secondary pcie 16 slot.They could be 4 or 8 or even 16 electrically. Many add in boards require 8 lanes to function that means the only way to use them is put the GPU in a secondary slot. Yes this limitation is not a reviewer fail it is a manufacturer fail. But I would be nice to know at review time, to discount the board immediately.

In my country, the MSI X670E Gaming Plus WIFI is the same price as many B650 boards. I kind of like every spec except the entry-level audio chipset (7.1 (Realtek ALC897). For 240€, I will probably get this for my ordered 7 8700x3d. I know PCIe 5 will be useless in the next few years, but I plan on keeping this motherboard for at least 6-8 years.

Pcie 5 is 10 years away from being the norm

Can't believe that ASUS Strix doesn't even have optical out. I'm looking to build a new system and that's a requirement.

I run cable for my network but I couldn't find a MB without WiFi that also fit my other needs, Oh well, and the cheapest MB was a 199.99 x670 board. I went with the x670 for 200. Its in the mail now...

I am going to choose a AsRock X670E Pro RS.
It cost around the same as your Asus 650E but has more M.2 and 6x Sata, well just more connection in general. All USBs are 3.2 and
14+2+1 Phase Power Design, SPS (it doesnt hurt).
Why is it not a topic how much Satas you can fit in?
Disk dont brake so ease, so you should have always have some laying around since Game are geting more demanding this days, I put them in use!

I'm confused between Aorus B650m Elite and Aorus B650m Pro AX

What MB, CPU, Graphics card would you recommend for a Pro Photographer with intentions of also doing some video? My software won't presently run -- it tells me I need some version of "Vulkan" -- which I do not have. Faster & better and also to run some of the new "AI" program parts. {I tend to keep my PC's for a looong time.}

I think the Asrock B650 Livemixer is a solid choice too. Lots of USB-A. One PCIe 4.0 x16 and x4 directly off of the CPU and one x4 off the chipset, all physical x16. You can even put in a Thunderbolt card.

Btw. be aware of the boards that have a two PCIe slots off the CPU. Some split them to x8/x8 when plugging cards in both. This can slow down your GPU by 5% to 10% !!! because now it only has an PCIe 4.0 x8 instead of x16.

Also, bios flashback is required by AMD to be on every board.

I purchased ASRock X670E Steel Legend, I like all the features especially all the USB's this board came equipped with. It will hold 32 gigs of 7200 ram speed. I'm not a gamer but I do like a fast computer. I matched it up with 7900X. Now I'm waiting for parts to come in.

I have to say I really don`t like recommendations like this "Well there aren`t even PCIe5x GPUs yet" To be fair I hear this all over the place when people trying to recommend motherboards.

Here is the thing the majority doesn`t buy a new PC or upgrade every 2 years. I would argue the majority of average gamers and users are looking for a lifespan of 5 years at a minimum and will eventually only upgrade their GPU at some point since a CPUs can last al ong time these days for gaming.
I would definetly buy PCI5x now so I can throw in whatever GPU in 4 or 5 years.
