Right on the nose Tony. Having been on major and independent labels I would prefer independents if I had to make a choice. Your pros and cons of independents are correct. Some good some really bad. But I still am glad that I am solely independent. Yes, a smaller audience but no real headaches.

Tony...great stuff as always. I commented on one of your other videos about friends of mine who have had careers destroyed or at the very least stifled being on a Major label. That being said, I have been signed to an Indie label that pretty much did nothing for us. We signed because at the time we are only the 2nd act to be on the label. Within the next year they had over 40 and we got totally lost in the shuffle. Happens all the time on both Majors and Indies. Nature of the biz.

I would love to see you do a video on what's behind Door Number 3...which has been my most successful route (albeit the most work) ... running your OWN label. On an Indie we have sold a little under 1000 units (yet to see a dime) ...then again, I know of Major label artists in that same boat. On my own label I've sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-6K units of which I get all the money (minus manufacturing and any distribution cuts of course). Something for artists to think about ;)
