We have maintained a Bluewater Navy capable of going anywhere at any time to provide Safe at secure traffic and trade anywhere in the world. This is one of the key things that has enabled US dollar to remain the world's reserve currency all this time. Even though the United States pays the entire bill for the Navy, the country has a whole benefits from having the dollar be the reserve currency of the world. Now, Joe Biden has decided to stop providing the services of the US Navy to guarantee free trade worldwide. As a result, the rebels, terrorists, and pirates are striking shipping lanes whenever they feel like it, and by picking out an area that serves as a traffic and trade bottleneck the damage they could do is extreme. To combat this, the United States has resorted to sending our own ships over, sometimes with friendly nations, joining in to protect shipping. However, very few of the nations that benefit from this protection are doing anything at all to support the effort. Should we continue as Americans to foot the bill for the Bluewater Navy capable of providing all the support, or should we demand that it's about time some of the other nations around the world chipped in their "fair share"? If the United States steps away from this job the damage done by the houthis and others will continue to escalate. How do we stop them without starting a conflict that will spread to many of the local nations in that area? As much as many of us would like to press the nuke button, that's really not an option.
