Raccoon Nursing in Pool House

Raccoons in the pool house! This mother raccoon and her six healthy babies were in a Toronto pool house, (one of their multiple den sites within their territory) when the pool technician went inside to service the pumps. We were called to the property, and as we entered the pool house we saw a mother raccoon with two of her babies in one corner of the room, and four babies huddled together in the opposite corner.
It was very rewarding to witness a rarely videotaped moment as one of the babies begins to feed!
Mom lets out sharp exhales through her nose, making a hissing sound to let us know we were too close, and near the end of the video she tells us it's time to back off!
We are happy to report that she has relocated all of her babies from the pool house safely!
