Grew up watching Elway, Marino, Young, Moon, Montana, etc and in my teens Brady, manning, Brees etc
Now, I’m forced to watch Tua, Jackson, Purdy etc thank goodness for Mahomes. His team is awful and he still wins. This coming from a Broncos fan.

I wish the Dolphins didn't make poor decisions on draft day so Dan wouldn't be playing with a lousy defense

I remember our high school playing Dan's high school. He was ridiculous - looked like a pro quarterback and had that same wicked fast release.

Not winning a superbowl tarnishes quarter back's career no matter how good the quarterback was. If Montana had not won super bowl, his image would have been tarnished.

Dan was a great quarterback. One of the greatest arms ever and perhaps the quickest release ever. But he is not the greatest quarterback to never win a super bowl. If you use the "REAL GOAT" scoring system that is based on how much better a quarterback was than the average quarterback of his era then Marino is the 13th best to start a career after 1948. Out of the 12 quarterbacks that score higher when compared to average there were 3 that never played for a championship team. Y A Tittle who won 3 MVP awards out of the 5 seasons in which he played enough games to get consideration. Fran Tarkenton who held all the most important quarterback records longer than any quarterback in history despite playing during football's deadball era when the rules allowed the defenses to rein supreme. Tarkenton is also the only quarterback who was the best over two non overlapping 7 year stretches. But there was also one more who played at the same time as Marino. Because Marino came onto the scene with such a splash Dan Fouts never got the credit he deserved. Except for Marino's best two seasons Fouts put up better numbers year after year.

Biggest choke artist history of sports. Second would be his old boss Shula. How do set all them broken records and not win at least 1 bowl. How does Shula get all the wins and only 1 bowl? Chokers !

Dan Fouts was holding
out for more money so the Chargers were poised to take Marino at #22 in the draft. Insead, Fouts signed that morning so the Chargers took Gill Byrd at #22 which deprived the NFL of part 2 of Air Coryell and the rest is history.

Dan Marino had a very similar career trajectory to Aaron Rodgers. Both with fast releases and big arms.
Aaron was fortunate to win the 1 SB. I'm a Packers fan, but we won because the Steelers ran out of time, Roethlisberger outplayed Rodgers in the second half.
There are always the similar excuses, no running game, no defense. But the two of them have saved some of their worst games for the playoffs, that's just a fact of life. Brady, on the other hand, is ridiculously good in the playoffs, and that's why he's the GOAT.

No one deserves the Super Bowl ring more than Dan Marino. Very sad to know that he never got one. Great great player. You open the restaurant called Dan Marino's Town Tavern in Florida it was the best place to eat in town in its heyday. I'm telling you there's spinach dip was to die for you could just eat that for the meal

Growing up in Ms. as a kid the Dolphins were my team Larry Csonka. As a teen ager I loved Dan, def my all time fav. No one had a quick release and hit timing plays like him. In comparison to Dan, there were only 2 better (ever) and that was Montana and now Bradey. Brett Farve REALLY pissed me off sticking around breaking some of Dan's records just from longevity. I have to think Tua has a very personal relationship with Dan because he has that quick release and hit's the timing plays. I think Dan's jersey was the ONLY football Jersey I ever had? Maybe I had a Ricky Williams jersey also. God blees Dan. I cried twice watching this video.

Sacking marino was extremely difficult, and it wasn't because he was this mobile qb. It was because he could spot the recievers and get the ball off quickly
