Stalman, do you know if the LUT on the C70 which can be viewed on the LCD screen, can it also show up on an external monitor using the HDMI port?
ОтветитьNice camera. Did you pull the trigger?
ОтветитьThe lack of RAW and IBIS really hurt in a 6 grand body, but anymore it seems like we need a studio cam, and a run & gun cam to keep up with the market. But after this, I probably will go with the C70. I want to save as much time and possibility of error
ОтветитьI started watching and in the first 22 seconds I hear that the canon c200 is almost "5 years old". Yikes. The c200 was launched in may 2017. Most stores started getting it September, so more like a little over 3 years ago. The world is going fast as it is, no need to make it seem faster.
ОтветитьBIG DOWNSIDES
1. NOT FULL FRAME(26.4x13.8mm)
2. NEED TO USE FOLLOW FOCUS for zoom in & out
DGO is not the Dual Gain Architecture technology patent by Arri
Patent can't be violated
Same price of red komodo...think komodo easy destroy this C70.
16 bit vs 10 bit color
4k 120 data rate
ОтветитьNice and calm video. Not shouty. Thanks 👍
ОтветитьNah! I'd rather save more and wait for Arri to release a new camera than do canon or Red or blackmagic or Sony. I noticed that Arri protect their customers and let them use a camera for a long time. These other companies just keep releasing stuff like it's candy. FIRMWARE UPGRADEABLE is basically useless as they almost never upgrade anything significant. The truth is, if you have good lenses, no one will ever know you used a C this or that. In the end, composition, lighting (more durable gear), art direction, and story take centre stage. Once a camera can afford you the luxury of RAW, then it's possibilities are almost endless.
Ответитьhey dude ! nice video! I would really like to know your opinion on the non availability to shoot raw on the camera. Do you actually use the raw format on other camera ? is the big bump in the storage needed really that much worth it? (I have an EOS R and currently looking for a cinema camera to sometimes match both camera and/or bring only the c70 on other shoot for all the cinema only feature)
Ответитьgreat review,great takes.
ОтветитьWhy no EVF? I'm sure one will come out with one to adapt to it, but c'mon Canon - shooting run and gun outside this is invaluable -
ОтветитьGood afternoon, congratulations on the review. I currently have a SONY HXR NX80, I am a freelance cameraman and I would like to evolve. I am interested in the Canon C70 with a 100-500 lens or Sony A7Siii with a 100-400- lens, which do you think would be the best option considering that I would need it to record ballet in theaters where it would be located in the audio room in the background and only with the stage light. The precision of the autofocus is very important to me and the camera would be on a tripod with a zoom servo. Thank you very much and greetings from Lima Peru.
ОтветитьI enjoyed your video even though my am not a videographer but an engineer. Sixteen bits is clearly not exactly as stated due to the magic in "dual gain" sensor tricks which involve noise reduction trickery as well. Some form of "AI noise reduction" no doubt. The images will look better as if they were nearly 16 bits so it is a new way of interpreting dual gain 16bits meaning which gets trickier and non standard among camera makers.
ОтветитьIs this camera weather proof ?
ОтветитьHello Stalman - what type of video work do you handle with the C200?
ОтветитьDo you think this has the EOS standard picture profile from the C100 that was missing on the C200?
ОтветитьI hate that the canon c70 has a RF mount. The good side of it is that you can mount any adapters on the camera which is fine, but the downside is, that it's a fucking adapter. A adapter by time will always becomes loose and then when you for example have wireless focus of you change focus or zoom, the whole lens starts to shake because the adapter is loose. Who wants loose adapters....
ОтветитьNo, it’s not better than the C200B. 12bit RAW cannot even be compared with 10bit. Watch Crimson Engine’s video comparing 12bit vs. 10bit vs. 8bit. You can export 12bit RAW to any 10bit codec you need but you CANNOT magically make a 12bit file out of a 10bit one. That alone makes the C200/B a better camera than the C70.
ОтветитьYour voice is similar to @LevelCapGaming
ОтветитьNicely done. I'm a c200 owner as well and this appears to be the next camera I will be purchasing. Great video as always.
Ответитьi feel your pain tho...i was for sure that i needed the canon 1dxmIII, then was like oooooh gotta get the new c500...then soon as I got the r5 they announced the c70 and i'm like COME ON!!!
Ответитьcurrently i have the canon m50 (mainly used as a webcam and for my son to learn camera-ing lol), the canon EOS R (current b cam), and the canon EOS R5 (as my A cam), and drooling over the canon c70.....can canon just sponsor me already? i'm cleary a loyal fanboy lol
ОтветитьGreat podcast , this is the way i like it !
Saw the video's from cpv and pro AV , they are spectacular reviewers , but somethings need a secind opinion or explanation ..you did perfectly !
Well done.
Grtzz
Amazing camera! Canon is really dominating the market with great new products!
ОтветитьI am sorry to say that, you look someone nice and I like they way you present it but you just cut one of the most important part for professionnals which is : you can't (without a cage who will be released in the futur) install your C70 on a professionnal tripod, it is not me who say that but CVP, and you have cut this part for something that shooting vertically is not something needed at all. Only for social medias... So you remooved the critical part which is really important.
ОтветитьIf this could do Raw and or 6K. I would save up, But its not. And if fx6 at least deliver 4K Raw with around the same price tag... Id stay with sony.
ОтветитьI'm stunned by this camera. Ordered, and my a7s-iii pre-order dropped-
ОтветитьInteresting. However this camera has no issues except that handle grip? No evf, no Wi-Fi, no SDI...
ОтветитьWill using an external recorder like Atomos Ninja V5 help with color grading
ОтветитьNo raw, no sdi, no evf, and no competitive price point... I’ll wait for now
Then again 😎
Another great video 👌
ОтветитьMy c100 feels old now. I have no work but want to buy this camera. Maybe next year.
Also, I rent the fs7 sometimes. I am hoping it can replace that too.
Can it be a cinema camera with out raw ?????
ОтветитьWhat about RAW video
ОтветитьAs a C200 & EOS R owner, this looks pretty tasty, BUT these are my concerns: no CLOG (to match with EOS R, though it has the other CLOG flavors); no EVF, though not a dealbreaker; and probably most importantly - price point.
ОтветитьThis is more like a 1Dc mark ii, than an enhanced successor for the C100. I mean look at it! it looks like a 1Dx on steroids
ОтветитьGreat review!
ОтветитьThey basically fixed everything thats an issue with my C200. This, or thr Sony FX6 will be my next one. What a time to be a filmmaker.
Ответитьcome on you know why no sdi lol
ОтветитьSo with the mini XLR jacks, what would be the best option? Getting mini XLR cables and adapting at the mic or using regular xlr cables and adapting at the camera? Maybe I'm overly cautious, but I don't like the idea of hanging a fat XLR cable off that mini jack. I agree this looks like an amazing camera.
ОтветитьHey Tyler, greetings from Sydney. Given your dreamy eyed videos about the RED Komodo, you were the first person I thought of when the C70 was announced! As a hybrid shooter looking to potentially step up from the Canon 1DX2 (which still takes amazing photographs and crispy high bitrate 4K video), the Komodo and C70 are both timely options for me as well.
Recommend you check out the deep dive (two hour) comparison between the RED Komodo and the Canon C70 from two 'proper' Australian filmmakers, Dan Graetz (@graetzmedia who has put out some great Komodo content in the last month or two) and Dave May (@TallStoryFilms who shot the C70 promo for Canon Australia) rationally and in detail, without all the usual hype.
No EVF, no thank you!
ОтветитьSo, is there a standard adapter (not speedbooster) from EF-S to r mount??
Since there's no internal stabilization those EF-S lenses would be really great for run and gun video.
Why are people so happy to pay way more for stuff the A7SIII is already doing with a full frame sensor?
ОтветитьThis just killed the Red Komodo
ОтветитьI firmly back you up on this.
ОтветитьYou seemed reasonable until you started promoting vertical video. Buh-bye!
