My only complaint is that the enemies are way to tanky, they take so much time to kill and aren't interesting enough to justify it.
ОтветитьFunny that Yahtzee brought up the soundtrack and "goth metal", because Nine Inch Nails scored the whole game. Or maybe just Trent Reznor, who also did the voice of Man With Gun, Esq. Why? Because he's a DOOM fan.
Ответитьi heard what you said about quake 2.....
ОтветитьYahtzee what about quake 2 on Nintendo 64?!?!??!?!
Doom64
Duke3d on sega genesis
Duke nukem advance
Powerslave / exhumed ps1 /Saturn
COMPLETELY Original Games unlike there pc counterparts
MIND BLOWING
Nobody tell Yahtzee that he's a millennial
Ответить"refrain from Moving" - soulless executive; LOL.
ОтветитьOne of the funniest reviews. I was literally dying of laughter XD
ОтветитьThe first episode of Quake [shareware] doesn't have all of the best ideas of the game in any exclusive sense.
ОтветитьThe second nail gun shoots two per shot. So, stronger, but less economic.
ОтветитьNever played Quake, recently watched a full playthrough of the original & the 1st ¼ of the 1st mission packs, the extra mission packs certainly made it more appealing to me.
Been a Doom fan since the PS1 version (fuck 2016 & Eternal never thought I'd be so God damn bored after playing both last year, had more fun with Rage 2 & Doom 3), considering buying Quake 1 & 2 for the extra retro shooter in me, crying out for something fun to run n gun with.
The soundtrack is some of Trent Reznor's best work from his early career, it definitely qualifies for regular rotation.
Ответить"Man with Gun, Esquire" - honestly this man's creativity in silly and severely densely packed jokes and quips is crazily clever always has at least one or two laugh out loud moments in his videos
Ответить"It's lika a school field trip to continental Europe during a major cholera outbreak". The fact that Yahtzee has been doing ZP for over a decade and can, to this day in 2022, still make analogies and jokes as good as this one is jawdropping.
ОтветитьYahtz, aren't YOU a millennial too? I think you're thinking of a zoomer.
ОтветитьNailed the ADHD, not the energy drinks. Fuck those things....
ОтветитьTo be fair (from a millenial har har), The "first episode is the best" has more to do with ID and some of the older Apogee games. The Build Engine games tended to have a good first episode and either their 2nd or 3rd episode was better but the other one was pretty meh.
I was, however, 11 when doom came out so I'm not too sure about older shareware games outside of the apogee canon.
I love the Zero Punctuation Imp so much
Ответитьyou done effed up you reviewed this game 5 years before it came out. Now wtf are you gonna do summer 2021 in reviews? This is a message for past you.
Ответить"REFRAIN FROM MOVING" nearly made me spit out my soup ;)
ОтветитьOh Look, Quake I is Remastered. Time For Another Go, Yathzee?
ОтветитьI loved the hell out of Quake 3 arena.
ОтветитьI spent years making mods for this game. It was my first real introduction to coding, which eventually turned into gainful employment.
Originally I stole the game (as I did a lot of software as a teen, as my parents wouldn't buy anything for me). It felt good to realize I was making enough money that I could just BUY stuff and own it legally. It remains one of the early purchases I'm most proud of.
Interesting rewatching this after the Quake remaster came out. Far from perfect but God it's a great time. Knowing how quake is my main PC competitive game (specifically Quake live) it's nice having some level of new release.
ОтветитьOh looky Quake's on da switch now
ОтветитьHello people who have came here from new re-release on current gen
ОтветитьAmazing this is where Team Fortress started...
ОтветитьBut. It's summer all year round in Australia. xD
ОтветитьTrust me, it's hard to beat hot tea in Siberian gray rainy morning surrounded by purity of nature
Ответитьah, nice to hear Yahtzee’s voice again. Been a while, forgot about this bloke
ОтветитьFunny how he makes fun of millennials when he himself is by definition a millennial
(Yeah it was probably some sarcasm there that I missed)
"...Because you're a millennial hopped up on ADHD meds and energy drinks..."
Uhm, excuse me sir, I'm a millennial hopped up on ADHD meds and *soda*, thank you very much.
"Man With Gun Esq." Being the main character was incredibly unique in Quake, and I never see people talking about how far ahead of the curve Quake was in Character Development. I mean, he's a *lawyer*!
ОтветитьI played quake the first time a couple of month ago.... and ffs how is it more fun than pretty much any other shooter I have played so far? I thirst for more quake but there is non :c (I'm not into "quake" 2s SciFi bs)
ОтветитьI'm a millennial and I'm passing this through a haze of lager thank you.
ОтветитьHuh...
Stronghold...
Quake came out in 1996. If you were 15 years old or younger that year, you're a Millennial.
Ответитьjacksepticeye
ОтветитьHey Yahtzee, you do realize you're a Millennial right? I think you might be thinking of Zoomers.
ОтветитьYahtzee, have you ever played the Marathon Trilogy/would you do a retro review?
ОтветитьThis video is a waste of Time....
ОтветитьSo Shrek can GET FUCKT?
ОтветитьOtherwise known as: "Beige Bastions Galore"
ОтветитьI'm a little late to the party, but the super nailgun uses up two nails at a time.
ОтветитьOk I know this is 4 years too late, but bruh, I'm an old millenial (born in 84) and I grew up playing shareware games. Get your generations right, you sound like a boomer.
