Sounds profound but poor old John Donne is more or less saying 'find me a woman who isn't a slut'. Self righteous, pompous Christian idealogue.

That voice . Unforgettable - like the moment when, many years ago, my husband and I were approaching the town of Gstaad very early in the morning and coming in the opposite direction was an open green Rolls Royce ( I believe it belonged to Elizabeth Taylor )with Richard Burton at the wheel !

It' be-fell once, my sight caste high' on glimmer. Far risen' to single point. As poem seeking to answer' this connection, without substance. A speck' in-telling, such breif luminous' mark. Trailing off, before dancing away' from vision of spark. These conceptual' flights, return. Back' from hidden rotation. To relate what' seems, but' hollowed outline. Vaguely filling in, it's notation. That alludes' the forgotten reason, beyond this spherical realm. Day wondering captures, only' half. What hope's did dreams' often fell. "In-dusk" settles, night's dull response. An outcry' for wishful gleaning, by creptive' moon's ambiance. Dogging' under blackness, tracing' as ominous slayer. Before leaving quarry, found lost' in it's enchantment of layers. On page, I' began writing, another wordless' stroke. For mind's quest' of something. Not referred to realism. Or' off-set' of world's observings. That' have sage, there-often' spoke.

English is less suitable for poetry of all European languages. This does not sound good at all, and Mr Burton was seriously struggling.

This bitter little piece is typical of a man who has been jilted and tars the whole female sex with the same brush! Not very well read, either - sounded like Burton was quite indifferent to the emotion and was just using his fine voice as a substitute for feeling.

1633 printed Edition has "haires", in response to discussion about this. 'Snow white haires (hairs)' makes sense, as in grey hair when older..

too bad he didn't do the Old (original ) English Pronunciation of "Find, Wind and Mind"
else it'd have sounded proper and not thrown out the aesthetic flow.

He wasn't up on his "Original Shakespearian Pronunciation"

Sincere apologies - for forty years I've thought the word was 'hares', but I was wrong. I thought that 'hares' was used in the sense of "catches up quickly with you". Next time I'll check before criticising...

No, "hairs" is correct. Why would you think it otherwise? It means that when we grow old, our "hair" turns white, ergo "til age snows white hairs on thee."
