Its amazing ow the windowing system and user interface design motief is still in the Vista era. It just looks outdated and slow. You really dont want software that looks like its going to crash. it doenst matter if it does or not, it needs to look like its not going to crash. the nicer and more modern the interface the more sales of the system.

Yea, it may work on the screen but anything complex MUST do prototype testing. Or shit be falling out of the sky.

Linux and Freecad , running on a 14-year-old I3 computer While it may not be Formula 1 or aerospace level , its ok for a daily driver , brackets, space gears, assembly etc ... and as the name suggest ,,,its "free" however its nice if you put back into the community

I am currently studying mechanical engineering and run solidworks on an intel MacBook Pro 16" via bootcamp. Seeing the performance of the new M1 MacBook Pros I'd really love to have solidworks running on MacOs natively

I don't know why CATIA V5 is still around, it's ridiculously dated, it still dose surfacing well, but it take ten times the effort, it's just missing all the quality of life improvements of the last 10 years.

3D expierience is very bad, CATIA V5 is more reliable and way better in every aspect just because it's offline.

Interesting, but I have to say my BS alarm starts going off when somebody talks about eliminating the need for physical prototyping. One of the industries highlighted - automotive - still uses clay models for finalizing the body of a car. And even very expensive industries like aerospace still test aircraft before going into production (hence the continued existence of test pilots).

CatiaV5 was the worst CAD system I ever had to use, the UI made absolutely NO sense at all. The order of sub menues, the layout of them and the sometimes wierd sequences of clicking on things that you normally don't need using other functions, in order to get simple things done, made CatiaV5 so bad and user unfriendly, they had to write several 500 page books about it... let that sink in
I hope you put in serious time in the UI layout and design in V6
