My son now has a lot of side effects, of which the main is valproate-induced encephalopathy. It is a nightmare. Be very carefull.

My 9 year old daughter had possible seizures first time 4 months back. Tests like CT scan and EEG test showed nothing. But her Dr. Has prescribed Syrup Sodium valproate 10ml twice for 2 years. It has been 4 months without anything. But I'm worried if it really was epilepsy or he just feel and fainted and side effects of the medicine. Should I continue the medicine?

Garbage medicine. It caused a seizure the following morning they gave it to me in the EMU. Seek other alternatives like VNS, RNS, DBS, THC. Stay the F away.

Also called Valparin, one of the most important drug for controlling epilepsy. Once started its difficult to stop. It has helped my daughter. She was on 300mg twice a day. Now on 300-500 mg . It surely helps. While her tonic seizures are in control, she gets sleep tremors. Doctor can u please advise on sleep tremors.
