Many moons ago in my youth,when I was in the 5th grade I had a secret crush on a 6th grade girl who could really roller skate. Used to go to the local roller rink on Fridays. Now this girl, Libby, could skate backwards and every which way whereas I could only skate forward and pretend to speed skate. 'Down On The Corner' was often played there. So anytime I hear the song I'm taken back in time to remember the girl I never had the guts to ask to skate with me in the 'get acquainted' skate period of the night. The song though still gets my toes tapping!

Makes me feel like I’m on vacation

I love CCR so much and this song is one of my favorites by them.

This song came out at about the same time as Led Zeppelin II, a polar opposite blues rock album that shook your b----hole. And somehow, Credence was just as good. That's the magic of good songwriting. And John Fogerty was as good as any.

Does anyone understand what this song is about? It's about the celebration the world has at the event if the second coming of christ.
