in a single LAN, you can still communicate even without a gateway. A gateway is necessary when you want to communicate with another network. your topology is a router on a stick.
the situation can be a lot of answers like port shutdown. ACL rule in place for the second computer in the router, a configuration in the second computer is wrong, The main IDEA of this question is to show that you are able to think and start troubleshooting the situation it can be a DHCP pool on the router that is not configured correctly, also each computer can have a different VLAN and they are not configured correctly or you have Nat configure wrong. I think is better to allow the interviewed person to troubleshoot the problem accessing the CLI because is going to take a long time just for this question.

In minute 20 , why default gateway was not pinging from both switches.. On router you have allowed the ACL for the network.. Right?

For NAT config checking time sir was telling show ip sex 🤣
