I'm no tree hugger, but that is horrifying. I had no idea a dozer was strong enough to do that.

I ran a fleet doing this for economic land concessions. Wild times, bush camps, 4x4's and breakdowns. We used a 100 ton ships chain linked to two 40 ton dozers, with a 42 ton excavator between them tending the chain. Best day ever we knocked down 200ha

i would be standing no where near that chain, not sure its rated strength probably much more than the dozers could manage but if that thing did you pop youd be sent to heaven at quite a rate

Try mulching instead. Instead of having barren ground you return all the nutrients to the soil. More 'environmentally friendly' than scraping the slate clean.
